Sinclair's motivation would be joining Rodgers , Agger's would be joining Laudrup ... I would be absolutely overjoyed with this if it was possible .

Breezy, I doubt Agger would be overjoyed at his wages dropping to Swansea's level.

Think Agger's our second most important player!

He loves Liverpool and owes us for his injuries... Not in a month of Sundays would he ever make this move!

He's perfect for both of our systems though.

I 'd kick in a few Canadian dollars !! . Agger's awesome , got a boomer of a shot . Rafa bought Agger from Brondby , not sure If Laudrup was around those parts at the time .. just thought them both being danes and all . Agger hasn't been the happiest with his time at Liverpool but I think that might be different of late . I was figuring we'ed have to kick in a bit of cash but Agger's worth in IMO .

Agger's been at Liverpool for 240 games & started 105 of them .Some missed games were through injury but lots were through riding the bench . Who knows , Laudrup might be Agger's hero although I doubt it as it appears he traded Agger away to Liverpool the last January window Laudrup was at Brondby . But , I'm sure Agger was well aware of who Laudrup was as he grew up & must hold Laudrup in high regard . Lots of intangibles involved here but the two that stand out for me is Rodgers link to Sinclair & the Danish connection .

When nationality is involved somehow , strange things can happen ... I think the " Danish Connection " makes anything possible ... like Bellemy going to Cardiff . Who would have ever picked that one a few seasons ago & it may happen again . Laudrup will naturally bring interest from Danish players , we've already seen a bit of it . Laudrup's appointment is huge news in Denmark & I'm sure Agger peeks in on the news from time to time . Agger played a huge role for Laudrup at Brondby . Do I think it will happen .... no , but somewhat possible . As for wages , it's time to pay a big one here & there if were staying up . Agger would be as good a place as any to pay top wages IMO .

Would love to see Agger pair up with Williams but most likely, it'll never happen. Wouldn't mind Kyriagos or Skretel either to be honest. It'd be good to have a real hard man like Skretel in the team that lacks 'hard men'!

Can't believe one of you actually thinks this could happen.

He's one of the best in the league and probably would be on the level of Vidic/Pique/Kompany without his terrible injury record.

Laudrup is Danish, yes, but he's not got anything like the pulling power of a Del Bosque or a Mourinho, or even a Wenger/Sir Alex. Do you think Ribery would want to leave Bayern, a better club than Arsenal, with more chance of success, with more money, for Arsenal? Just because they're managed by a French legend (they adore him)? No!

Also... Agger is, I imagine, already on 40-60k and is set to renegotiate his contract when he's back from holiday... Probably to 80k ish, he's worth it and we need him. Could you afford that as well as a £20M transfer fee?

I think you've over valued Agger NIRIR, £11-12m could buy him. I don't know where you got £20m from.

I do agree with you that he is out of our price range. You see 'VALUE to the club' is the only consideration we make to the purchase of any player so over inflated prices/players, although linked to us in the press, are not on our radar.

If Agger is as good as you say he is, on a par with Vidic/Pique/Kompany, then Liverpool wont be able to hold on to him. I see him leaving for maybe, a top premiership club; which Liverpool currently aren't, or to one of the many European clubs currently dipping their toes into the warm waters lapping Trophy Beach.

NI none of us really think we'll sign Agger. We're indulging our fantasies. Take it as a compliment that we're frothing over the hypothetical prospect of one of your players playing for us.

NI, Most of us accept that he's out of our reach. Question - now that Rangers have gone bust with a couple or more high profile clubs likely to join them, are you happy that your club is paying these monster transfer fees and salaries? This question becomes more acute when linked to the new financial fair play regulations coming into force.

Personally, I think that transfer fees and salaries are utterly obscene. My honest response if Agger was prepared to come and we could afford him, would be to say no - he can stay where he is. Swansea and Norwich have shown that you do not need to pay extortionate sums to survive in the PL and we can do this by spending less than a quarter of what the big clubs do.

Of course we will never challenge for the top honours at this level (perhaps the odd cup) but I will settle for giving the top six clubs an occasional arse kicking knowing that A) the future of our club is secure on all fronts and B) we would be doing it with a team that we trained to do it, rather than one that was bought in for mega millions.

I suppose we are lucky in that we know, because of logistics, we can never become a top club so we don't have to spend the money to try and compete at that level. It also gives great satisfaction when we do turn over a top club the way we did Arsenal, Manchester City and, with respect, your own team (Chelsea missed being added to the list by the skin of their teeth), with our team of budget players.

So, the answer to you final question is no and I, for one, am quite happy with that.

Exactly. The money that fans of bigger clubs are happy for their chairmen to spend is outrageous. Of course Agger is class but would I want the Swans to get him at any price? Not a chance.

Bit like Siggy. I was actually cheesed off that we apparently agreed to pay the guy £30,000 a week. That's too much for a club our size imo, and I don't give a **** what the market rate is either.

As for "Can't believe one of you actually thinks this could happen." I don't think there's much evidence that anyone does.

The guy that brought it up seemed to think there was an actual chance due to him being Danish.

For the valuation, we put a £20M+ tag on Skrtel, which City apparently were willing to match, and PSG had a bid of £45M or so accepted initially by Milan for Thiago Silva. Barca are set to pay around 30M euros for Javi Martinez.

Therefore, I doubt we'd sell Agger for anything less than £20M - 25M.

About wages, the reality is that, as fans, we all want to see our club move forward. To do that, we need to pay wages that match. The problem is seeing players like Joe Cole hold the club to ransom and having little chance of moving them on permanently. It's absurd in a way, but we want to see players like Gerrard, Suarez and Agger every week and we'll have to pay them accordingly.

It seems LFC are determined to streamline wage costs - highlighted by our refusal to match Sigurdsson's own valuation of his worth. He'll get a fatter wage packet at Spurs and if that's what he wanted he can go forth and multiply there.

Ivoralljack, our club was in deep trouble - but we were bought on the verge of extinction by capable owners (FSG).

Our kit deal is the best in the league, we make a large amount on ticket sales (but nothing on United and Arsenal) and have a successful global brand (especially in Asia and increasingly in the USA). We don't have the same problem that Leeds had, or Rangers.

The owners aren't mega-wealthy but they make money available and we haven't spent lavishly. The transfer fees last season were ridiculous, but our net spend was only £30M, and we were I think 6th or 7th in net spend over the past 3 seasons. We're in the poor position we're in because our last set of owners effectively asset stripped the club and didn't make money available for appropriate replacements. That's hopefully no longer the case.

I'm sure a deal could be reached over the young, English, potentially world class, tenacious midfielder that is Jay Spearing <whistle>
