Not being relegated. That was last year.

We have new owners with a solid record a new coach and a team with one striker in prison what is there to go wrong?

I would be happy for the club to finish higher than last year with more goals scored and fewer goals lost.
I would be very happy to reach the play-off seats and I would not contain myself if we got promoted.

I would say a mid-table, and staying away from the relegation fight, would be a 'success'.

It is another season of transition, and a very big one at that. There will be a small amount of turnover in the playing as well as coaching staff, but also in the style of football we play. If Zola wants to play a passing game, it may take a while for the players to get used to it.

I think it will have to be quite a patient first 6 months!

A bumpy ride ahead then - not many of our ranks display much in the patience stakes. :(

Speak for yourself, BB...I've been known to wait three minutes for a beer without complaining to the management <steam>

Am now desperately trying to remember the names of two pubs next door to each other in Watford High St. Years ago, when out with a couple of friends, I had been kept waiting for service for so long in one that I went next door to the other, bought my pints, took them back to the first pub and rejoined the queue. The look of confusion on the barman's face was a sight to behold. ;)

Zola out!! No patience some people.

Funny, reading the Watford Observer that all the vaguely pro-Bassini types have all but disappeared and all the completely antis have become the anything goes happy-clappers. I could never comment there as I would end up seeking someone out and doing them some mischeif.

And there's the rub. I had plenty of patience, however expectations have now been raised.

As it was success would have been a repeat of last season, maybe more of a proper flirtation with the play-offs. Solvency and unearthing another gem or two from the youth ranks.
As it stands the new owners have moved the goalposts. It is likely we will have a large pool of European talent to draw on and the new owners have not entered into this, er, project (sorry!), to finish mid table in the 2nd tier of English football. Success for Watford FC now is more about keeping our soul - something the Pozzo's have been keen to emphasise - coupled with real tangible success on the field which this season ought to be a play off place.

Looking further ahead, if Fulham can make the Europa League final....
