and i thought you had title aspirations in the last 10 seasons..which is 1-2 place finishes...fair enough you have always been looking to be 3rd/4th........as for us them final placings you mentioned above are an improvement to where we was. so my point remains whilst you just proved that your happy with 3rd/4th..whilst im sure you used to kick off your seasons within the last 10 years hoping to win the title. i know out of the 2 which would be classed as an improvement and which would be regarded as decline. and i compare my improvement to our seasons gone to where we are now..you are comparing your decline to our success..which in itself says alot...that is not how it works...you should give up..them tints have blinded you. your angles in this debate are bouncing around because you dont really have a point.
You're wrong I never said we were happy with 3rd or 4th I said I'd rather finish in the CL places than where Jokenham Bottlespur always finish, in the Ropey league. Well done for getting 3rd. This long term is a partial victory as your concern must be challenging for honours. I think this was the first time that you never looked like you would win anything. The constant loss of your best players , lack of cash, insipid atmosphere, delusion of pecking order with the major power houses , has left your once noble club slipping from its high perch. When Spurs have their new stadium , you feel their board will spend and their fan base is more militant not to let the board line their own pockets as your,s seems to be doing. As it currently stands we are ahead of you then, the same as we were 5, 10, 15 years ago. The margin of victory is irrelevant as a means of determining progress. We could finish 1 point ahead of you, and 15 points the next season. Football is not so cut and dried as you think. And how do you measure progress? By looking at your own club in terms of the competition.
Not to be a party pooper but is there a need to have a thread entitled "Laugh at spurs" when we have problems of our own? Scraping to 3rd position by 1 point and then losing our best player and captain is hardly an occasion to take the p1ss. What's worse is this thread has reached 20 pages!!!
The divvy spuds come on here giving it the big one about how great they are. When you ask them to prove it they got nothing. repeat ad infinitum " well you only finished one point above us." The point , my spuddy friends is we ALWAYS finish above you. Year in year out. Even when , this year we had a cataclysmic breakdown and you were all laughing particularly hard. I seem to recall that we were not even relevant as you were now focused on WINNING the league ffs . We STILL reeled you in . Facts are hard to dismiss aint they.
Why not? They are our rivals and it's all part of the fun. This is like our banter thread (see Liverpool/United board). If we can't laugh at the misfortunes of our rivals, then what can we do? This thread was created after the CL final, and if we could not laugh at them then, when could we? Also, instead of having the Arsenal/Spurs chat pop up in different threads, we can just use this big one to talk about all that stuff. If you do not like it, then just ignore the thread.
Oh and as an example of how to overdo the Spurs talk and all that, just need to look at how Chelsea board used to be/is. They had too many threads about them and it looked stupid. Here we just have this one big thread on the first page.
