I'm probably the only QPR fan on here not getting overly excited about forthcoming news. We've been promised the earth before and nothing has happened. Until I see results on and off the pitch, then I will get excited. Totally OT, but Darlington were promised the earth and got it - now look at them! Sorry for bursting any bubbles.
correct you are "1979" the news about ground & signing are fantastic & i wonder what would get you excited then! couple of geezers going hell for leather, supporting darlington.
Theres being cautious but look at what already has been delivered in 11 months 1) new management team ( Rigg , beard etc ) 2) New coaching team 3) new training ground. 4) New players ( last season and this season ) 5) New sponsorship deals The only thing missing is the new ground and they have said that will take time , no promises have been made . You really can't ask for much more in less than a year !!!!
I'm only surprised there's not more cynicism (or realism depending on your point of view) on here. I always say that to QPR fans - the glass might be half full - but its half full of pish.
Now Im usually realistic and reserved but TF has delivered more than we could have asked for so thats why I 100% believe him. Now if it was T&C spouting on about it.......
'79 I think so far so good. Investment, settled management, good playing squad, retention of PL status are all great things on Swiss Tony's watch. Stadium ultimately is a must if we are serious about competing. This however will take a long time to come to fruition but the start so far has been positive I do share your reservation of waiting to see things first but thats a natural cynicism being a QPR fan! And what's wrong with Yorkshire???
I was cynical about TF especially after the NW departure (particularly due to him implying by Tweet that he was considering NW's position). That cynicism was also rightfully based on the claims of our long list of previous owners. Since then, I can see he backs his convictions fully and financially and needs a forward thinking team that shares his views and ambitions. That team is now in place. I'd go so far as to say that what TF is doing actually exceeds my wildest (footballing) dreams. If today's announcement is nothing more than a new coffee machine for the office then I won't assume that he's losing his convictions because he is negotiating on several fronts on our behalf. IF he should lose interest (which could plausibly happen) then he will have already built amazing foundations for the future of the club (especially if a new ground comes to fruition). Tony, if you read this, I am sorry for ever doubting you. I hope you can understand why but also see that I no longer am a hardened cynic as far as you're concerned and am truly grateful for all you've done.
Good answer. There's also the approach of management. When we had the ridiculous turnover of managers, the Mittals came in and simply chose Warnock. He took us up. When it was clear (sorry to the IWIT's ) that Neil was out of his depth in the Prem, they got Hughes and he made some good signings and loans and kept us up. I can't fault management at the moment. Everything they do is well thought out, and prudent from a business pov. They seem to be looking long term.
