    This is a great thread!

    Great timing too as the series, that anyone who grew up in the seventies may recall, "Escape into Night" has recently been released onto DVD.

    This was a spooky series for older children and I think I may have been a little young at the time, because it scared the daylights out of me!

    Cheers pompeymeowth. I have never seen or heard of that TV show before. However, I have seen a similar film (think it was called Paperhouse), which I assume was based on the same story. In the Seventies I would have been up to 10 years old, so that would have scared the **** out of me.

    Escape Into Night is a six part British television serial for children made by ATV for ITV that aired from April 19, 1972 to May 24, 1972. It was directed by Richard Bramall.

    The serial was an adaptation of Catherine Storr's novel Marianne Dreams, and deals with a young girl, Marianne, whose drawings become the basis for dreams, and how the dividing line between dreams and reality blurs. The novel was later adapted into a 1988 film, Paperhouse.
