I think the the fact he went to Spurs for more money completely proves my point as you didn't get him for Swansea wages. How do you know he WOULD have got him otherwise?

This really is going over your head. Rodgers offered what he knew Sigurdsson had accepted from Swansea. However, Swansea are on a shoe string and Sigurdsson would have more than likely been their highest paid player. At Liverpool those very same wages would have made him low paid by comparison so he wanted money that would have given him parity with his colleagues and peers.
Would you take a new job knowing that someone at the same level as you earned four times the money? No, would you hell. Ergo, not greedy just reasonable.

    It's piss simple really.

He would be a key player at Swansea, as opposed to being a squad player at Liverpool. So why he would deserve more than £30k?

If you paid every player what they believed they deserved then you'd soon be sliding down the leagues like Portsmouth and Leeds did because they paid world class wages for players who weren't close to being world class.

    Fair enough.
It was a minor point in a larger post where I was saying that I'm happy for the club to be run in a responsible manner and not chuck money around, in a delicate economic period, in order to satisfy the fans' desire to see instant action. If Gylfi were a Messi or an Aguero then we'd be justified in breaking the bank, but he's no messiah, just a decent player.

The reality is he probably doesn't but if you consider how much the likes of Downing, Henderson and Adam are on then I suspect that 30k would have left him below them. And he's fair enough in thinking he's worth the same to be perfectly honest.

It amazes me sometimes that people are surprised that players want to get the best wages they can. At the end of the day it is their job and like the rest of the population they want the highest earnings they can get. I know that what they earn is disproportionate to the rest of the population but the same rules apply.

It's not surprise that players look for these wages, but the fact that they are so readily given.

Just because we've overpaid for players in the recent past doesn't mean we should carry on doing it. I do not actually think he is greedy, but I do believe that if the money being offered was the same from Swansea, Tottenham and Liverpool that he would've come to Liverpool.

And I never said I was surprised that players want the best wages. I am actually more surprised that people are advocating paying him more in wages than the manager thinks he is worth yet when they see a Portsmouth or a Rangers sinking because they've been overpaying players for years they'll be shaking their heads and criticising the owners for over spending on players.

I would not be mouthing off too much if I was you lad. City will strengthen again in the summer. Chelsea have made some good buys, you may end up fighting for fourth, Kagawa is hardly the kind of signing to strike fear around Europe, and we all know the likes of Giggs and Scholes ain't getting any younger.

Yep,it's very reminiscent of the Ozil going to Man Utd a couple of years back.

Bazington, squire, can I call you dollface?

Kagawa is one of the 23 players shortlisted for WPOTY this year, its easily arguable that he was at worst one of the top 3 players in the german league. He spent much of last season giving Bayern Munich........ a team who looks at a club like City and does an efficient german laugh................. nightmares

Also, City are buying nobody............until they sell...................and nobody is paying the money they want or the wages. Basically as things stand Man City have done the unthinkable ( if your not man city ) and ****ed themselves up during there greatest period in their long and dire history.

Finally, scholes is getting younger, by August he will be 25!!
