This next season in the Championship we could have a lot of old boys returning: Paul Robinson with Blackburn Stephen McPhail with Cardiff Jon Woodgate with Middlesbrough Plus these players may also come up against us for Championship clubs: Alan Smith Lee Bowyer Harry Kewell What reception will they get, I was surprised that I just could not bring myself to boo Ian Harte when he played against us for Reading.
Robinson, Bowyer and Woodgate - mixed applause and abstention from those who believe they ****ed us over somewhat in the relegation season (and those who don't really care that much that they're ex-players) McPhail - small ripple of applause: always seemed to try his best, battled cancer and been victorious. So credit to him, although he's hardly a LUFC hero. Smith - few clapping him, and the majority (as with the last two Newcastle games) singing 'sign for scum, don't come back' and 'should have been his ****ing neck'. Kewell - violent reaction. Accountants and lawyers turning up at the coach park with rocks to chuck at the evil ****. Won't show anyway, the murderer-loving coward.
I would love it if Kewell came back to a Championship side and actually played against us at ER. What a welcome he and his missus would get!
I understand the other 2 (don't agree with Woodgate) but why say that about Robinson? And you don't want to piss of an accountant - they have a lot of pent up anger!
I'm not personally bothered either way, but some people believe he wasn't arsed in the relegation season and could have done a lot better with some of the poor goals he conceded. Believed he wanted out of Leeds and would have lapped up the relegation bonus and the quick move to a better-placed club that the relegation would bring, as opposed to another season or more of slogging it out with indebted and low-flying Leeds. To be honest, I've never rated him hugely anyway and always thought he suffered from the same hype as all other promising young English keepers. So I don't subscribe to that conspiracy theory, and I'd be hard-pushed to care about giving a reaction, much like when Ian Harte came to Elland Road. Non-exceptional past players? "Meh", as they say.
To me it appeared that he played his heart out but then again, what can one see on a tv screen thousands of miles away?
Ouststanding song, by the way! Thought I saw some Leeds scarves in the footage there! Perhaps it should be considered for the B-side to "Marching On Together?"
I hate manure as much as the next man, but I wish people would get off Smiths case. We had to sell him, we had no option, and manure were the only club willing to pay that sort of money. Smith even GAVE his 1m signing on fee back to the club. How many times have we seen that??? Kewell on the side, is vile scum. I still do not understand clearly how he managed to pocket the majority of the transfer when he went to Liverpool
Have to agree, we need to stop taking things so personally. 95% of footballers don't have an ounce of loyalty, football is their job, the club is their employer and when a better job offers comes along they take it just as we do in our employment
Im with you on that one, vile scum turkish loving bastard, pure filth that lad.......... I ****ing hate him !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
