Yea, cheers Bow, had one before, but traded it to get the van, then regretted it, so thought I would get another. It is close to mint so had to have it, will sling some new alloys on it and it will be good to go.

Trying to reverse the van into small spaces around town is doing my head in, so this should help.

Yeah definately. Mate got the same van as you - although not as nice!

He has an VW Scirroco until recently, and a mini before that.

Oh really, nice, was looking at a Scirroco today as well, quick but thirsty. I just wish I had the van when I was a bit younger, but would have gotten into lots of trouble, so maybe it is a blessing in disguise they I didn't

But for practicality, it is great, you can get so much stuff in there, easily a football team and four subs<ok>

  5. The Golf's are meant to be generally better than the Scirroco's but the latter certainly looks better <ok>

I passed my test back in 05 and bought a 1998 plate Pug 106 with only 4500 miles on the clock!

    Only cost me £1500 quid.

Sold it for the same on 30k 2 years later!

That's the way to do it. Have a thing for the older cars with low miles. It's always stressful buying new cars. Will try and keep the ones I have for a good few years hopefully.

Could not get my head round buying a new car and losing money in depreciation soon as you put your foot down.

I know, done well in the sense VW's hold their value so well.

I was lucky in that the owner had is passed down from their mother who had copped it.

She used to see her friend down the end of the road, had a small dinc, and never drove it again. Hence the car was basically mint when I got hold of it.

My mates sister has it now! It's ruined by pink stuf and 'power by fairydust stickers" now! Poor thing!

That's what you want, some old granny driving it to the supermarket once a week whilst servicing it every 3000 miles.

good as owning a new car, chuck some new wheels on it, get it serviced and remapped, bingo.

  14. My first car (the E reg fiesta) had been own by a granny, she had been the only owner too. she'd had it about twelve years and only ever nipped to Tesco in it so it was near enough in mint condition. I have it three months and took it to scrap yard <yikes>

Did you destroy it? I think when you pass your test you think you are the greatest driver since Ayrton Senna. Every time you have a little incident you slow down slightly. Younger drivers look at slightly older drivers and think OMG so boring. The older people could drive much faster than the youths if they wanted or choose to, they have just learned through experience that it is not wise<ok>

I recently had a incident reversing, small dent, now I check every mirror 10 times and reverse at about 0.3 MPH.

Every year that goes on since I have passed my test I get slower and slower, especially if you care for your car, you just choose your moments to open up, rather than gambling.

  16. Yep, I was turning right at a set of filter traffic lights, smashed all the passenger side of the car (two mates in the car where both sat that side and complained of aches and pains but the good news was that I was 100% fine <ok>). The guy coming the other way was speeding too though so not entirely my fault <whistle> To be honest, it didn't really slow me down (ten years later) but did teach me a listen <ok>

  18. It went through our insurance companies but never got settled so I wouldn't have been able to claim from anywhere. Can't say I was too fussed, the car only cost me about £250 and I managed to line another Fiesta but four years newer more or less straight away, again for a bargain price of just £200 (I think)...<ok>
