Does this club mean to push forward with AMBITION now?

  1. We were mocked for getting relegated, and everyone called us the next Leeds, and i must admit it wouldn't have suprised me if we suffered consecutive relegations.

However, we gave the perfect response, 102 points and pushing for a top 10 finish in our first season up, hammering the Mackems twice, sticking it to the Arse... and many more amazing things.

We've had our ups and downs, but we've got the cash, we've kept the support, attendances are around the 50k mark -

Do you really think we can actually make something of this now? Or are we just going to end up being a selling club?

In my opinion out of Enrique, Barton and Tiote, atleast 2 of them need to be kept here, and we really should be looking at quality to add to this team, if the club is serious about really pushing forward with ambition of Europe.

I'm going wipe the slate clean with Mike Ashley. I don't like him, but there's not point hating him, i'm just going to keep faith and i see that he's trying to do his best now. Even if his heart isn't made of gold and he hasn't the Toon in his soul, he's trying to sort things out financially, and it's in the fans and his interest that this club regains it's European status.

I think we could do it within the next 2 years. We've attracted the likes of Ben Arfa and Tiote, we need to sign quality, and regain European status so we can attract the sort of players that will help shape the team up into the force that this amazing fanbase deserves!!!

I have no delusions of Champions League, although in the future i'd love to be a top 4 club again, i'm not going to be that ambitious. I think our target should be Europa league in the next 2/3 seasons. We need to make this money count. I think we have the right manager to do it, and we are starting to add the right players. We need to do our best to keep the quality we already have, increase depth, achieve stability and consistancy and try and attract younger prospects and developing prospects, that wont ask for ridiculous wages, but may cost a pretty penny in transfer amounts.

I'm sorry for telling you what you already know, but this is how serious i am about this clubs future. We need to take this chance to push on, or we'll stay in mid-lower table mediocrity, and our quality players will leave. I don't want to be a Bolton or Fulham, i want to push higher than that!!

Firstly we hardly hammered Sunderland at their place, it was 1-1 after all.

But this summer will definitely be a telling point in the future of the club. Sell our best players and we can expect to be in a relegation fight for the next 2/3 years at least, keep them and we can look onwards and upwards to 6/7th place within the same time period. An interesting summer it should be.

In regards to Ashley, I'll never like him I don't think, but I understand what he is trying to do and in a few years with the new regulations coming in I think we may well reap the rewards of his work. But time will tell.

Finally, I don't think we will ever become a Bolton or Fulham (No offence intended) in the way that this is no 'normal' club, everything we do is in the spotlight and our fans won't accept a 10th place finish every season.

Hopefully in the next 3 months we'll see, what with our 2 internationals supposedly in-waiting, and whether we give Enrique and Barton suitable contracts. Then the following 2 months will show just how much ambition Ashley is going to allow us to have with how much money he allows to be spent. I don't like Ashley, but respect what he has done in the last year or so from a business standpoint, not so much on footballing grounds though.

Of course we are ambitious, even to the point of delusion, as a fan base, and I cant imagine Pardew would take over, then describe us as one of the top 5 clubs in the country and not be ambitious. We will know if Ashley shares that ambition if he does give us 35mil+ to spend in summer and continues to invest in the transfer market every window while he is in charge (only what we need each time of course, not expecting a more than 10mil in an average window
    after this summer).

Forgot about them. Quietly confident about the summer and next season, however saying that it wouldnt surprise me if we royally ****ed ourselves and ended up losing both Barton and Enrique. I'm fairly confident of keeping Tiote for at least another season as he seems happy here and has only just signed a six year deal, yes I know contracts mean nothing, but 6 years is promising.

With the two international stars (Gervinho standard or Kuqi?) in waiting, as long as we keep the core of our team and get a quality CB and Striker (or two?) and a few cheaper players to add depth to the squad, we should do well next year. <fingerscrossed>
