Well the highly active summer in the tranfer market some of us envisaged hasnt happenned...lol I dont think its that much of a problem as we have been developing our youth for years and theoretically we should not have to make loads of purchases, (although a couple would help.) It would seem that there is not that much action the other way. With plenting predicting quite a few of the fringe players and older guys would be leaving. So it seems everyone is going to be given a chance. But who will thrive with the new passig/possession style that brendan is bringing us. Its a funny old game, as the first name i though would suffer would be Carra, but him and BR are building quite a friendship, and I think this will work on a strategy level, (i still epect Agger, Skrtel and Coates to get more game time.) The new style will benefit some and will not benefit others......If their were two columns, benefit and suffer, where would you put each player in the lIverpool squad..... feel free to disagree.. But i think the following will really thrive under the new regime: Agger: Ball playing CB, will be made for him..... Lucas: Has all that is required Stirling/Suarez: Pass and move is pointeless without the cutting edge..... These two have it and space will be created for them. Henderson: Guy does have very good technical Ability and BR will improve his confidence. Pacheco: Barcelona youth product will be very adept to this style......I always thought his passing was far to clever for passing to Ngog Maxi: Argentina style fits perfectly. Suso: try getting the ball off of him. .....Cant be arsed to write anymore so ill just wait for others opinions
I agree with most of this. Interesting that you put Pacheco as I have been thinking the same thing since Rodgers' appointment Edit: I don't agree with the bit about transfers, I was referring to the players fitting into Rodgers' style
1. its july 6 not aug 31... why on earth do you think we'll sign no one. 2. rodgers like kenny will be judged o who he buys. he said 3-4 i expect he will get 3-4 3. honestly i think regarding thriving or fialing its all aabout discipline and work ethic so the biggest failure will be adam.
Agreed I expect him to try and get between three and four players. Whether that happens remains to be seen but I am pretty sure he won't sign players for the sake of it so it depends on whether the right options are available at the right price I personally think this ball is firmly in Rodgers' court. If a player is not pulling his weight then it is up to Brendon to deal with the situation. Kenny said last year that if players didn't perform then they would be out but then continued to select them. Rodgers has said he wants players to pull their weight and so he needs to stick to it, make an example of someone if needs be but let the players know who is boss. It's the Brendon way or your out attitude PS - Brendon doesn't look like he would take much **** from the players anyway. Seems to literally hold his head very high when being interviewed
He said he wants three or four but saying something and doing something is two completely different things. I am not questioning Rodgers' honesty, I am saying that I expect him to sign players but only if they are the right players. If there are not three or four players available at the standard or price he wants then I'd expect us to sign less players
1. I do think we will buy, but I think we will buy for the future and only one of the four will be a player who will go straight in to first team action. I am prepared for more buys like Teixeira rather than Suarez. 2. I think 3-4 will come in, bu tplayers who are going to have an immediate impact need to come in early in the summer, we dont want to have to start gelling when the Prmier league has already begun. 3. Agreed, Adam will suffer as ineffective hollywood balls will not be appreciated in considered build up play..... I was going to say it may not suit Spearing aswell, but I honestly belive that the lad will put enough in to adapt to any style change we may have......
The biggest player Spain has missed is this person and his name is David Villa. He provides that pace, knack for goal, and always looking to burst into the area and score. I think/thought Pedro was going to be that sort of player but he seems to have slipped down a little.
AVB never seemed like a dominating strict type, saying you want things being done in a certain and implementing it is very different. A manager as to be prepared to make sacrifices in order to get it right Also some of the Chelsea players where older than AVB, plus they have their fair share of ****s too
I don`t think he had the players at Chelsea to impliment the changes he wanted, they do not have defenders with enough pace to play the high line which brought about his first problem...Terry, to play this way you need a very fit and dynamic midfield which brought about his second problem...Lampard. The fact that he is very young for a manager helped the old guard to undermine him "this guy doesen`t know what he`s doing" putting doubts into the minds of the rest of the squad the same could happen anywhere when established players come up against a new young manager.
I'm sure that's exactly why one of BRs first actions at LFC has been to talk up the likes of Carra and Stevie. Any manager walking into a top level job needs help from the established players whether that's on the pitch or behind the scenes so IMO AVB undermined himself as much anyone else did.
