The list is almost infinite Just one that springs to mind ...... Perone Did he play 1 PL game (Wigan) and a cup game and that was that? Bet pound for pound it cost us something like £250k a match??? If only I had studied less at school and spent more time using jumpers for goalposts
There's a vast array to choose from. Sheron immediately sprang to mind. I think he beats Hateley because my expectations of Hateley at his age were very low and Sheron was such a massive disappointment. The unbelievable lack of value we got in return when selling Trevor Sinclair has always stuck in my craw. However, the guys above make a convincing case for Barton to take this (dis)honour. After all the hype and the cash outflow, he has been another massive disappointment and couple of good games from him late in the season can in no way make up for the self indulgent madness of what I dearly hope is his final game for us. Barton. No contest.
We got £1,5 mill back for Sheron, representing a loss of £1,25 mill. On Hateley we got £300.000 back, meaning a loss of £1,2 mill. In two years Hateley scored 5 goals in 33 games. Sheron also played 2 seasons for us, scoring 13 in 56 games. They run each other so close it's scary. Only a desperate Glasgow Rangers paying us 300k for Hateley saves him and ties the pair for me. Re Barton and SWP, though expensive and crap, they're still R's and no one know what the future holds. IMO we can't pass a final judgement while they're still with us. But I have a sneaky suspicion they will team up with Hateley and Sheron in the worst value category once their Rangers careers are over
i think theres been to many to name, what about tony thorpe? great goalscorer yet olly played him out wide lol
Selling Trevor Sinclair for cash and players ending up with Ian Dowie! I'm sure that deal was brokered by Del Boy Trotter.
Nick Ward. Dean Sturridge. Also, how rubbish were Danny Parejo and Emmanuel Ledesma once they were sussed out (on a wet an windy night in Leicester)
Parejo was a very good player, way too good for us. Ledesma was also very good until he got sent off and was never the same after.
Parejo had skills. But zero grit. So in my eyes, a real let down. Keepy-ups don't win games!! Guess not the worst ever player, but was trying to think out of the box
Aging players too!! Wasn't Keith Rowland one of them? My West Ham supporting house-mate at the time just laughed at me for months. Sinclair was my favourite player at the time and we got 3 pensionable Wet Spam donkeys.
