http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11715/7871413/Town-to-capture-Clayton With new investors coming in we should look at keeping a player like Clayton. He can only get better as far as I'm concerned. Excellent buy for Huddersfield. Very disappointed if this goes through
Same. Even if he was only a bit part player in warnocks plans next year. Clubs moving forward dont sell talented young(ish) players
Does anyone know around how much this deal is worth? It could turn out to be a good deal if we got a decent sum of money but realistically we should be keeping players like him if we want to improve
Is he not going because of his wage demands. We don't know all the ins and outs but maybe Warnock feels he's not worth what he is looking for
Yea but we'd still be getting a transfer fee which is what I wanna know what it is, Clayton IMO was our 3rd best player last year and just to sell him so easily is annoying
Exactly. Was kinda hoping we'd keep him till takeover then the owners could throw abit of loose change at him to keep him here
Claytons fitness was his only fault struggled with 2 games in a week n Micheal brown was fitter that's the only reason I'd get rid of him
Clayton's gone on a three year deal: http://www.leedsunited.com/news/20120706/midfielder-joins-newcomers_2247585_2833657
With new owners around the corner we have to assume this is a decision by Warnock? One little part of me feels worried in case this means the sale of the club isn't as straightforward as we had hoped or the funds not as great as we were hoping? Add this sale to the free signings and links with Varney, Norris (cheap) and Chambers (free) I am not feeling as secure about this takeover. I do question why we didn't keep him and watch how he develops if we do have big financial backing around the corner, rumours that the fee was £500k surely it would have been worth keeping him for the year ahead? Maybe his departure will be very shortly followed by the takeover news??
Maybe Warnock doesn't rate him as highly as some of our supporters or maybe, he has a better replacement lined up. Remember we mightn't be shopping in Tescos for much longer for our players
Clearly not part of Warnock's plans. I don't agree with him but I say to some on here you can't bang on about "in Warnock we trust" and then complain about him inevitably trying to build his own team. Not too worried about him trying to get in Varney and Norris as they're classic Warnock players. You know what you're going to get with Colin and you shouldn't be desperate for him to come and then complain about him working the way he always has.
400K apparently, looks like a bargain to me, good player, Are you guys sure about this take over because with the signings youve made so far and accepting 400k for Clayton the signs look a tad desperate to me but what do i know i support a little pub team right
Interesting situation. Clayton clearly wanted a better deal than we were prepared to offer him. Warnock, in whom we trust, clearly didn't think he was worth what he wanted. Looking at last season, on the plus side he scored some cracking goals. But did he really run the midfield as much as he should have done? He will develop & maybe we (Warnock) have got this one wrong. Only time will tell. I just hope we give him a good reception when he returns to ER, even if it is with our neighbours.
Nope, sorry, this is going towards Paddy Kenny. You might get the money from Lonners' move to Bolton.
