Apparently we're on the final stages of signing Lloris.

Now I know that I have been one of the few people here who criticize Szcz for his positioning, going out of goal for no reason, and generally trying to be too cocky/clever when simple will do... but this still comes as a surprise to me.

I can't think that Lloris would consider coming here if he wasn't assured he'd be first choice (unless he completely botches it).

On the other hand it does make sense with Almunia gone and Flappy having expressed his desire to leave.

Btw... putting the RVP thing into perspective if this deal happens.

So RVP says he will give Arsenal a chance to "show ambition". 2 months before the transfer deadline we potentially get the french #1 keeper, #1 goalscorer of ligue 1, and one of the highest capped German Internationals (at 26)...

When have we had a comparable situation in the last 20 years this early in the summer? Never.

RVP really just wanted the easy way to win things by going to a club that is guaranteed to win something. It is getting more pathetic the more i think about it.

doesn't make sense to me either considering we have chesny and lloris won't settle for second choice. Head ludvine sagna posted something on twitter welcoming lloris's wife before deleting it. Was hoping for someone cheaper so that we can free up funds for someone else.

I think Chezzers is off then, he won't want to sit on the bench behind Lloris.

Why? He's only 22, I think the competition will be good for him (that's if we get Lloris of course)

Hope we get lloris and chesney can be no.2. He is a libaility at the moment. Could be class I think but at the moment he charges out too much and stuff. Send chesney on loan to someone and get lloris imo.

Chesney certainly needs to learn to be disciplined. He was very lucky not to be sent off a couple of times last season. The problem is the lad is far too cocky

Szczesny could also still be injured (injections in his hands to keep him playing), and that maybe it is more serious than first thought.

His shakey perfomances towards the end of last season can be explained by him playing through with an injury.

I still think that signing a goalkeeper for more than £10 would be crazy if you have someone like Szczesny. 2 years ago I would have been overwhelmed if we had signed someone like Hugo Lloris, but today it wouldn't make any sense at all.

Tottenham looks a far more likely destination for him, they only have two 40 year old keepers and the Brazilian version of Manuel Almunia.

I don't understand any of this, if it's true that is.

Besides, I don't think this would be a good signing, it's certainly unlike Wenger to go out and sign a goalkeeper that isn't to strong in the air, especially not for the no.1 spot.

Apparently Sagna's wife has tweeted that she hopes her friend Marine Lloris will come to Arsenal

Still don't know why we didn't snap up Robert Green on a free, he always used to play brilliantly against us, so logic dictates that he would be magnificent for us.
Plus he wouldn't mind parking his arse on the bench

Sorry but this rumour makes no sense at all, unless Chesney has some serious sort of injury, that requires long term rest. We have more important positions to fill than getting another first choice goal keeper. With all the years we've been desperate for a keeper, but still bought no one, we are now rumoured to buy France's first choice keeper? Sounds ridiculous to me.

Im not a huge Szezney fan as i still feel he makes too many errors but even i am abit confused with this potential signing. Im pretty sure Szez will become an amazing keeper but his injury might be abit worse then 1st thought which is why we are after LLoris.

Maybe the trouble at Lyon is just too good for Arsenal to miss out on signing Lloris for 10-15Mil.

Am I the only one who doesn't rate Lloris that highly?! Whenever I've seen him (which admittedly isn't that often) I've thought he's been pap.

Neither do i. Especially if you stick him in a physical league such as ours, he will get repeatedly out muscled. Just imagine a cold, wet and windy afternoon up at Stoke? The man will get mullered! What about against Carroll or Holt. I shudder to think what they'd do to him....

Most likely! Still, in his defence he's a regular starter for France and been at Lyon for years so he can't be terrible. I agree we need a new keeper, just think this would be an odd choice did it prove to be true (which it's probably not).
