there's no way Butland is coming our way. Two reasons; firstly, why would he want to play second fiddle to Schwarzer and secondly we wouldn't/don't need to pay £6m for a keeper. He's bound for Spurs by all accounts -

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2169219/Transfer-latest-Tottenham-plot-Jack-Butland-bid.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

I find the Robinson story a strange one. If true can only be because Stockdale has declared is concerns (we know he's not happy at the moment) and on the move.

You say why would Butland want to play second fiddle at Fulham, but why would he want to at Spurs either? If he isn't good enough yet to be our first choice keeper then how is he good enough to be Spurs's first choice? You look at the top six clubs, they all have great/world class keepers. Butland would fit into that category with us.

The article actually said that Spurs would immediately loan him back, Bandit. I don't really understand the logic but there's no way we'd be considering that kind of deal/money.

Funnily enough, having posted only 20 minutes ago that Stockdale was unhappy, who should pop up in the last few minutes on the Club website but the man himself, looking very happy (an a little bit thinner) -

Who is to say that we wouldn't loan him back to Birmingham either? We would still have Etheridge as back up for Schwarzer while he's away at Birmingham?

According to German papers he's signed on a year loan -

As others have said before, Cottager, your powers of detection for this kind of thing are the stuff of legend. Well done!

Cottager's right. It's official. - season-long loan with an option to buy. http://www.fulhamfc.com/Club/News/NewsArticles/2012/July/FulhamSignRiether.aspx

I like the option to buy, otherwise we could easily be back in Pog territory if he turns out to be any good.

Interestingly, that's two signings this summer (so far) and both of them played against us in the epic Europa League campaign of 2009-2010.

I thought that too. Also, great call C58!

So we said we needed an RB and we've got one. Unless Gryggers is going to be centre back cover as well (he played excellently there against Chelsea in the CC last season, if memory serves), it looks as if he's going :(

    Roll on the striker signings!

Bidders, we're not going to get one of your favourites either :

    Any idea on the fee? Also, Wiki says this;

I know Wiki isn't the most reliable source, but really? Captain? And what the hell is a Snaak?

EDIT: Just Googled it, the translation (it's dutch) is "rogue; rascal; scoundrel; comedian; funnyman; joker; comic; clown". So obviously an Ajax fan updated that!

Did they pay all that money for his jokes? <laugh> Morale in the dressing room obviously at an all time low.

I am a natural cynic,"so" after we have exhausted the pool of freebies, where do we go.
I think that Dempsey will be off,and with Murphy gone, we need quality and experience in the midfield.
and not some stopgaps, who over the last season were not even regulars in middle of the road European teams.
Yes its still early in the transfer market, and Jol may have something up his sleeve,I do hope so,because at my
time in life I cannot stand another January relegation dog fight.

January relegation dogfights aren't so bad. It's the ones that are still a dogfight come April that are bad. And we haven't had one of them since Roy's rescue mission.

When was the last time we were involved in a 'January relegation dogfight' (if such a thing exists)?

On the first game of the season, are all clubs in an August relegation dogfight as all teams are on zero points?

I think the term was invented for the likes of Wigan who are absolute pony all season bar the last few games. January is when the dogfight is established, ie who will be fighting it out come May/June to stay in the league. Thankfully I don't expect us to be involved this year.

In other news, QPR's transfer activity has made their board all sunshine and rainbows. Imagine if they signed someone under 30! <laugh>
