I met Steve Irwin the crocodile hunter. In real life, he was exactly as he appeared on TV - ludicrously effervescent about his job, extremely knowledgeable about all native Australian animals and wise to the dangers - not wise enough unfortunately. A very nice, down-to-earth guy though.

I've also met Aussie Rugby League legend Mal Meninga (he beat me to a job once - sports coaching co-ordinator for Aboriginal kids). Again, a down-to-earth character who was/is a very good public speaker on just about any subject under the sun - very unusual for a League player. <laugh>

Can't think of any that I have, but last year when Pie was at the World Scout Jamboree, the King of Sweden visited and started a Mexican wave! The President/Prime Minister of Norway also visited and Bear Grylls was there as Chief Scout. Apparently, his speech was very short and he gave the impression of someone who didn't want to be there.

my brother is a mini cab driver in Watford, and had to go to the Grove to pick up someone called Darren. When he got there, there was a bloke with a baseball cap, who was hanging around so my bro asked him if he was waiting for a cab, and the guy said yes. My bro asked him his name, and he said Bent. My bro said..no, i'm looking for Darren...duh! My brother doesn't know much about footballers. lol Incidentally, though he was staying at the Grove, he asked my brother to take him to Nandos lol...what is it with Nandos and footballers?! (btw..have i told that story before? lol)

Social reasons I'd guess? Darren Bent can afford to eat in the Grove every night of the week, but a lot of his mates won't be professional footballers.

Worst denial every, even in his 'dubbed' English. THe man is a con artist. Mexico looks to be going back tp PRI and the dirst past, there are a lot of protests here.

OK Mr French, force me to name-drop....all from the same place
BING CROSBY :member of staff asked him to sing a song,he obliged standing on a table, cant remember the song..well must have been in the 1920s
TOM JONES: Visited once, member of staff fainted in front of him !
ROD STEWART & BRITT ECKLAND:Not an ounce of manners between 'em,he was there with feet up on table all the time, then they DEMANDEd delivery of goods to their Hotel, and were only small items.A few years later I was at West Ham v Ornets at U.P.Directly above me in posh seats were Rod The Gent and Reg Dwight,as I call him as from Harrow. I Didnt do a 'remember me?'
ADAM FAITH: A regular, and regularly miserable but in fairness was on crutches for a long time after bad road crash.
BARBARA WINDSOR and husband a Mr Ronnie Knight;look him up if dont recognise the name...better known than you might think. Not the best conversationalists you could meet.

The friendliest, most natural you could meet would have to be Hank Marvin,an instrumentalist with a well known Beat Combo.A regular and always good to deal with.
Could bore you with more, you get blase after a while after a while if you work in a prestige London place, can assure you tho no glamour attached to dealing with some of the rich and famous !
Ironically later I was a member of a Beat Combo meself, playing such Glamour Spots as Working Mens Clubs...so became a bit of a celeb meself ( some on here will no doubt take the last 7 words of that sentence seriously
Finally, to wake you all up, Mrs Wife used to know a director of Oxford Utd FC.When we went there to games against Hornets used to go to 'posh' lounge after match...posh Oxfords old ground??One time the 'Orns players were there, Her went up to Neil Smillie (who? many say) and told him he'd played rubbish. Not at all embarassing, although he took it well. She didnt attend games at Vicarage too often after tho(banning order).
OK, more people at door for autographs, and no doubt interviews with media such as Codgers FM.
