I've said this before, if the footy is half as good as the talking then it should be a good season.

Could be referencing Aqua? I'm sure that kind of response stemmed from " Why was Aquilani not at training yesterday?"

Just watched his interview on LFCTV. Calm & measured as usual.

And as we all debated, he's talking about the Liverpool way of playing not about forcing the Swansea or Barca way onto us.

As for transfers, he talked about it either happening right away (which it didn't) or it taking time. He talked about it being important to have everybody in place at start of season.

Reading between the lines, they've their list & are working on it but no deals will be announced in next week or so.

Interestingly talked about Carragher being his kind of person: football in the blood rather than just a profession; good to get along with old guard.

As usual. Right noises being made, not long to see what he actually does for us!

  10. That's from twitter <ok>

I'm glad Rodgers as said this. This is 100% my attitude when it comes to new signings - I want players that want to play for the Liverbird on their left nipple, nothing else <ok>

What a complete load of tosh! We don't have **** players. We do have players who found it difficult last season to cope with the move and forming new relationships. We did have players who suffered injuries and we did hve the Suarez affair. They were our problems last year.

Rodgers does have experience of managing players who on a one to one basis may not be as skillful as their opponents but who's combined efforts more than compensated. That's were his "up your effort" comes from.

She sounds like a type of pizza.
Allegedly she was the one who didn't fancy the delights of the North West of England and inexplicably preferred Rome or Milan or whatever, so if she has him by the knackers now there's presumably no chance of him putting a shift in over here.

I disagree, having zero assists and zero goals in an entire season makes you a **** player when you're a first team winger for a team aiming for the top 4. Kenny's system wasn't exactly a taxing system to adapt to was it. Why is it hard to swallow for some people that our team is well below the quality of those in the top 4 positions. Whilst I don't think we need to sell all our players I do think players like Adam, Carroll, Downing, Shelvey (all first teamers) would not get in to ANY of the 7 teams that finished above us last season (bar Carroll at Newcastle) and would do well to be replaced and used as subs. We have good players but we also have **** players and I think everyone busted a gut last season and we got what we deserved with the players at our disposal. Swansea did well last season because Rodgers picked the right players for his system and I agree with you that as a result the team was stronger than the sum of all its parts, but that is not necessarily the same as players upping their game - if you play in a system that suits you and are gelled as a result (Ie Swansea) surely you shouldnt need to up your game a huge deal....

Fordeck, In all seriousness, by your reasonings for our failure last season (injuries/failure to gel/Suarez fiasco) I take it you consider our first 11 fine to compete next season with no players being changed/brought in/shipped out?

Completely agree. There are good players at our club, there are players with potential who had a poor season but can improve, and then there are **** players.

The last group (Downing, Adam, etc) must be replaced, but foredeck's argument does apply to that middle group (Henderson, Carroll, etc). I'm not sure where I would put Spearing as he didn't have a terrible season but he's probably not going to get much better.

The middle group should be given time to adapt to the system, the **** players have proven that they cannot adapt fast enough and must be shipped out.

  19. Although I agree the "bad group" don't look convincing, surely we can't be looking to ditch them after just one season? Or in Adam's case, half a season...

Anyway, I'm sure Rodgers will do what is best for the club. plus it depends on someone else wanting them and offering the right sort of money too <ok>

I think we surely can. How likely is it that they will improve? Looking at it from a rational point of view (and the stupid Moneyball POV as well) they're players who are either at or past their peak. They're not 20 year olds who could get better and they aren't Messi or Ronaldo where we can afford to give them an off season.

They've shown an inability to adapt to a new team (and they don't have the language/culture/league excuse) over an entire season. 50 odd games over which they never impressed, that's a terrible record.

That record is not likely to get better, and the longer we wait on them the less likely we are to flogg them off to some unsuspecting club.
