That's what I would like to see, but I think we'll play Song. With Song we'll not have enough cover at the back, especially as Vermaelen would be centre back (and guaranteed a place as captain). I would love to see us buy M'Vila and another striker, but I doubt it will happen.
I would prefer Koscielny at DM and move Verm back to CB, I think Kosc would be a beast at DM, reads the game well, good passing, strong tackler etc etc

We need as much attacking flair to keep on getting goals. Though i do like the idea of playing Vermaelen as DM, should we chose to close a game out or go more defensive.
That team will not challenge for anything I'm afraid. I really hope we sell RVP and reinvest in some quality.

I think it will be impossible for him to play for us next season. The fans won't like it, and the player will be thinking about what his next club is going to be.
Well Walcott and Podolski aren't your run-of-the-mill wingers. They're very attack minded, almost strikers. Arteta and Wilshere are more than just "midfielders", they're extremely creative passers. They'll give us the attacking midfield creativity we need. I put them in the middle like that, but realistically, one will get forward while the other covers behind. I could have said something like this: ----Vermaelen---Arteta------ ----------Wilshere----------- But I don't see a difference. As for the 3 centre halves criticism, we all know Vermaelen doesn't play as a centre half all the time. I think his attacking qualities are fantastic, and I'd like to see him allowed to do that more often. I see him in the old "sweeper" position, marauding forward at will, but giving us experienced cover defensively (something Song isn't capable of). Vermaelen's strength is his positional play, and this is the most crucial skill for a DM/sweeper because he is needed to cover the centre backs. What Song offers us is passing ability, but what is the point in that when we have Arteta and Wilshere already? No, pick someone who can do the defensive job that Song doesn't do, but who also gives us variety in our attack. That's the Verminator.

If Per comes in, move Vermaelen to the left. Rosicky in for one of Gervinho (then Podolski to the left), Giroud (then Podolski up front) or Podolski himself. Oxlade-Chamberlain for any of the 4 attacking players. I'm not considering Wilshere at all at the minute. No idea when he will be back in the form of 2010/11. With or without van Persie, I still think we have a pretty strong starting 11. The extra little special element of surprise van Persie gave us will be gone, but much depends on Giroud and Podolski settling in asap.
