If Rangers did go defunct, I'd just give up and start going to more Scotland games, which would just lead to a deeper depression.
Say Sevco couldn't play for a year and by next season a 2nd and 3rd club went bust Charles Green gets Sevco in Div 3 Brown or Smith get Newco in Div 3 also They both claim the name Rangers Something Who do you support? Both? Do they both get the history? I think possibilities like this are one of the reasons why when a club is liquidated its officially dead
That is an interesting question. I think we would end up with two well supported teams, the Rangers support split down the middle, both would be rivaled to each other and could create a new derby. With both claiming the OF derby as theirs it would fall to the most successful of the two to get to the SPL and recreate it.
It's pretty simple, so someone of your mental abilities should be able to comprehend the basics behind it. All this "whatabootery" is neither here nor there. Rangers FC was founded in 1872, the company behind Rangers was incorporated in 1899 and will cease trading in 2012, the club will continue until the fans no longer support it. Many companies behind clubs have encountered financial difficulties in the past and went bust, but the club remains. No amount of bigotry and editing wiki will change that. Close the thread, ER.
What happens if Celtic went bust, then the newco went bust, then that newco split into 2, then both those went bust, then 2 new newcos were formed, but one of the newcos went to the Irish league, but the 2008 property crash meant the Dermond Desmont lost 90% of his wealth, then Dr John reid of Cardowan was held accountable for the Fritzl dungeon installation, then the other newco went bust, but they owned the defunct cup who would you support then? Now THAT is an interesting question.
I'd probably revert to supporting Thistle to be honest, get in as a shareholder whilst it's cheap and get a season ticket for a "good" seat
errr no. The club is not still being run, the club is being liquidated. Nobody has taken over the running of the corporate body. The players ( that went) have been transferred to the new club. The stadium is an asset. They have no league, no right to be in any league. Gone, dead, finito. If you see Sevco as the spiritual heir of Rangers, go ahead. I cant stop you. If you want to pretend that Sevco is Rangers then you will be wrong.
Without us they are just another normal team that has nothing special about it what so ever. I mean seriously how many of the best clubs in the world don't have a bitter rivalry
Do you really think if Rangers went to the wall Celtic wouldn't develop another rivalry though? ... Man U's rivalry was once City, then Arsenal, then Chelsea, now Man City again. It can change all the time, all we need is for one of the other SPL clubs to catch up and it would be business as usual, especially if there is no Rangers at all, rather than third division ... because like it or not a lot of your fans would support Motherwell, Dundee Utd or Kilmarnock or whoever.
Therein lies the problem, other SPL teams won't catch Celtic, not anytime in this decade and if they don't in the next the Scottish football is designed to die. You really think most rangers fans will start supporting other teams? and even those who would do that, do you expect them to start supporting their "new" team by buying merchandise?
Rangers have gone to the wall. There is nowhere to go after liquidation except start again and pretend nothing has changed....exactly as predicted.
Doesn't really matter about merchandise, outside the OF, how many teams do you think rely on merchandise? I don't even know where I would buy a Motherwell top if I wanted one, apart from maybe Fir Hill. As long as viewer figures are high then we can agree a decent TV deal ... which is the life of our game. Hopefully Rangers don't hit the wall, but at the end of the day, I'd have moved on to Partick Thistle (who were in 1994 a PL side) if Celtic had hit the wall, I'm sure a lot of your mostly Scottish fan base would do the same.
