Will he be number two to that drunk-driver-who-killed-two-boys, or has he moved on?

    Morning all

Another grey damp one. The lawn looks more like the west of Ireland than the usual fringes of the Sahara at this tie of year. Just been asked to give a lunchtime talk to the local Rotary Club but I think I might offer my excuses. It's a free lunch but I'm not sure I want to spend time thinking about what to say. I've got too used to being retired I think!

    Look what happened here today:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-jersey-18709055

I only live about 15-20 minutes walk away. Fortunately, I live and work outside the exclusion zone and my route between them doesn't go through it. Pie is at his Grandad in France and his younger brother is with their Mum and that is in a different area of the island.

According to the report on the Channel Television, it's not the first time it's happened but the other occasion was 30 years ago.

What a day...Jersey nearly gets burnt out of house and home, the comedy genius that was Eric Sykes has slipped away from us. Along with Spike Milligan, two of the funniest people for me.

Well the MP's "grilling" Bob Diamond completely screwed the opportunity. All they seemed to want to do was make their own speeches and shout abuse at him - what a waste. Plus the irony of the whole sad episode - disgraced banker gets grilled by a group fresh from fiddlin' their expense and tomorrow it will be reported in newspapers exposed in another enquiry as being totally corrupt! Yeah, what a day!

Morning all. Nothing nearly as exciting here. It is still raining. We did have a 7.0 earthquake, which is big, in tne North island a couple of days ago but it was very deep and didn't cause much damage. It didn't even make the front pages of the newspapers.

And Kenneth Williams. I have some cassette tapes of Round The Horne, excellent stuff. I do not know much of Eric Sykes work apart from Sykes with Hattie Jacques Richard Wattis and Deryck Guyler. As for Spike Milligan, and the Goons, completely mad.

NZ Must be a real bitch living in an earthquake zone while the plates are moving, especially if they don't settle down. With winter coming on as well must be awful, you have my good wishes. I have a friend, who follows Dirty Leeds, who lives in Rolleston. Living out in the sticks might make it a little better, but I have no idea.

Zen - Hopefully there will be a few tributes to Eric on the TV over the next few days, try to catch some, he was a comedy genius - his timing and use of words is exceptional. My brother had a load of Kenneth Williams albums - including Rambling Sid Rumpo..funny stuff.

    Are you sure?

An Auckland man spent most of a flight home from San Francisco in handcuffs after allegedly abusing and threatening crew.

The 54-year-old man, whom the Herald has chosen not to name, was arrested at Auckland Airport and charged with disorderly behaviour. He will appear in the Manukau District Court tomorrow.

A police spokeswoman said the man was a passenger on Air New Zealand flight NZ7, which landed about 5.30am on Tuesday. He was apparently intoxicated and became "abusive and threatening" to other passengers and staff.

After a "physical confrontation" he was restrained and handcuffed.

Another passenger on NZ7 said that about three hours into the flight the man started yelling and swinging his arms around.

Two "burly" passengers restrained him and a flight attendant handcuffed him. The passenger said people sitting hear the man were alarmed.

    M. Frenchie, I didn't know you took such a close interest in the travel habits of the All Blacks!

As for Rolleston, the people who live there love it. It is a new town - the Milton Keynes of the South Pacific. Rolleston was near the epicentre of the quake that started this round but because it is new and with plenty of space the building followed modern building practices and nothing is above three stories - so little damage.

A bit late, but I'm told that Google's Italian translation for "England 'till I die" is "England perlo stampo"

If we'd have taken that advice, I might have won the sweepstake ;)

I have a friend who lives in Rolleston too - the Queensland version, so slightly different no doubt - 28 people at the last census, with 12 dogs, 4 cats, a family of possums and innumerable kangaroos. He supports Werder Bremen though, not the Dirty Weeds - which brings me to my point. The Mail this morning spread the rumour that Weeds are after Tommy Smith. :(
