Arsenal should put their foot down and keep RVP/Club statement.

You are only as good as your last performance. Name me a current Arsenal player that has matched his performances......

That does not mean he gets free reign on the basis of one admittedly exceptional season. He owes ultimately.

We all know what direction RVP wants the club to go in and we all know what direction the club is going in.

Arsenal are a feeder club, buy cheap, sell high <ok>

He's 29 and is running out of time. He's already missed out a lot due to injury and want to compete. Is this not a valid reason for moving? I wanted him to sign a new contract but i can't begrudge his decision.

I don't begrudge him a move, why should he stay with a stagnant club ?? Why should he ? Loyalty ? Get real. Footballers have a very finite shelf life he has seen Arsenal dwindle as a force, he has seen the erosion of quality.

Why should he stay ?? To fight to get us CL qualification ? What else are we playing for ?

According to what we have done for rvp decency would be the reason he should stay loyalty is another factor altogether

This is the reality that fans do not want to accept. Even with Giroud and the Pod, have we really strengthened significantly to challenge, or is it enough for us to get to Champions league positions? Even with RVP, the best we can achieve is 3rd/4th, depending on how well Chelsea and Spurs do.

Let's not confuse us with some charity organisation, we kept RVP because he is world class. If he was rubbish then he would have met the same fate as Bendtner and co.

Given his injury problems i think we would have found it very difficult to shift him

Wenger isn't stupid, he knows top players when he sees them. He saw it in RVP, the same way he sees it in Rosicky and Diaby. He kept them because he wanted them.

I don't agree - we are operating to a business plan, a sustainable model that guarantees our existence forever, we are reliant on ticket sales, sponsorship and merchandise as our only forms of income and we are amongst the worlds most successful clubs who operate in this way.
Yes we've bought some ****e, yes we've overpaid on wages in some areas, but players who want us to match the spending of Chelsea and City to have a chance of winning trophies are deluded, it would be at the risk of our existence.
I'm happy with how we're run, of course we'll make mistakes but that's football, I'd get no pleasure from the chequebook silverware City and Chelsea are showing off these days if I was a fan of either of those clubs
