Before the game Liverpool fans were very worried about the prospect of Skrtel and Soto starting at CB but along comes the saviour having a stormer of a debut and allowing Carra to move back to CB.

    Well done lad! :cheesy:

forget Roy Of the Rovers, there should be a comic called Flanagan's Shenanigans. about a superstar young centre back kicking ass and taking names up and down the premier league

    I agree.
The only thing is he's a right back.
He has the look of a young Jamie Carragher about him.Very strong for a young lad, well capable of handling himself. He along with Conor Coady were tipped on LFCTV that would make the breakthrough,as they have they the physical size to play in the premier league. The others don't yet.

    <doh> - I knew that

Out of curiosity... will this now proove a bit of a selection headache next season? Johnson, Flanagan & Kelly all vying for the same position.

Esp. if the rumours are true about us signing a decent left back in jose enrique

Bozz why would there be problems with signing a left back if there is players vying for the right back position.Anyway Kelly is a centre back by rights,so it leaves Flanagan and Johnson fighting it out for the right back berth.

Unearthed another gem, local lad looks the part. Couldn't understand why Mancini didn't switch Adam Johnson to the left to run at him. Looked strong in the tackle, comfortable on the ball, and can pick a pass.

Am i alone in being really optimistic for our future success at the club?

I'll tell you why.City are severely mis-managed.They have a squad on paper that would run away with the league. But they have a nitwit manager.Look what he did last night. He put Ballotelli on the left when he brought him on as a sub.Why didn't he put Johnson on the left, bring Silva on,and push Milner in centrally.
He had 3 players that were playing out of position.Milner,Ballotelli and Johnson. No wonder Milner was pissed off.Thats why I convinced Kenny will succeed where City for all their money won't.Yes they may outspend Liverpool and have 300 full-backs 280 centre backs and 196 strikers.Kenny signs for positions. He will sign a left footer to play on the left wing,a right footer to play on the right wing. He'll sign a left footed left back.
He'll also sign that commanding centre back we need, and he'll sign a specialist play-maker.

As it wouldn't help Johnson who seemed to have taken up the left back position and made it his own when Kelly plays. Kelly seems to have made the right back position his and I personally (althought my name isn't Kenny Dalglish) prefer him there

I just hope that after such a high tempo performance that we have enough in the tank for Sunday. Wenger will have seen us last night and will set out to tire us as quickly as possible. This season has been a long one and we need to keep that tempo for the rest of the season if we want to play in the europa league next season, the problem is. Do we have the depth for it?

If not, what is plan B?

I think the only way to prevent this is to play N'gog instead of Suarez and Poulson instead of Lucas. :)

Should make sure your players aren't tired out alright!

Only if you play Almunia and Rosicky.

You've got yourself a deal! Does Almunia have to play in goal though, I'm starting to think he would be better suited in a different position <laugh>

I was gonna ask for you to use Arshavin but he always seems to do well against Liverpool so if you can bench him for the game i'll be happy

I think Arshavin is over that phase of scoring against you and Walcott will probably play instead of him anyway. I can see us lining up like this

    ----------------Lehmann----------------
    Sagna---Squillaci---Koscielny---Clichy
    ----------Song------Wilshire------------
    Walcott-------Fabregas-----------Nasri
    -----------------RVP---------------------

Djourou could come in for either of our CB's (most likely Squillaci though) and Szczesny could replace Lehmann if they both recover from injury in time.

It wouldn't suprise me if we went for the same line up against you as we used last night. Maybe Jonjo instead of Spearing, but even thats doubtful as Spearing (like every player last night) had a great game and it would be a shame to drop him

I think we may change to the 3 CB's system that Kenny has tried a few times against teams that play down the middle.

I know Arsenal are more expansive than that, but the key will be stopping Fabregas and Nasri who both like to play centrally.

Nah 3 CB's is only good against 2 strikers as it gives you a spare man. As we play with one striker who likes to drop back away from the CB's it would be harmful to you as there would be a shortfall in midfield.

It worked against Chelsea though! They played 1 up front in that game. I suppose it's the tactics around the formation that make the diffrence.

If we can restrict the space in front of Fab and Wilshire they have to go wide our wing backs would then have to work hard tracking back when needed.

I'm not saying we will do this but we have to be aware that you lot will be up for it and we will have to restict your passing game while trying to impose our own.

During the week I was thinking that it wouldn't be a bad thing if we actually lost the game.Because it would mean that Arsenal would be putting pressure on that club for the title, but I had second thoughts,I can't see Arsenal beating that club at the emirates. So I think we should go all out for the win.
