Once again I think people underestimate England just because it's the done thing. We're clearly not 4th in the world, but for TC to say there were 8 better teams in the competition is ridiculous. There was Spain, Italy, Germany and... erm... (don't say Portugal, one man team). France are once again in turmoil, as are Holland, but people will still ignore that so they can pretend England are the only major nation that aren't some incredible perfect footballing machine.
I think we're in the top 10, but FIFA are even more of a joke than the FA. The US were never 4th in the world.

6th or 7th would seem fairer if the rankings include South American countries as well. Think on or two African countries would give us a fair game as well.
The rankings are utter pish and should only be used with a massive pinch of salt. The fact that England moved up two places and Scotland also moved up despite not playing, says it all.
Didn't the US do very well in the last Confederations Cup ? I think they even got to the final and lost to Brazil or something. Anyway, they probably scored high ranking points for this, even though everyone apart from FIFA regard it as nothing more than a freindly competition. Would explain how they got to the giddy heights of 4th in the world.
Spain Germany Argentina Uruguay Italy Portugal Holland/England/Brazil/France Would be my personal opinion, I don't see Portugal as a one man team and even so, it saddens me to say he is miles better than anything we have. I would place England between 7th and 10th - Even then if we played France 10 times based on our last performance against them I wouldn't put money on us having the greater win percentage. I look at Holland and France and I think who would I have in my team, I look at England and ask the same question and sadly England always comes out second best.
Except we beat France in the group and Holland didn't get a single point. We learned in the past, it's not about individual players. Don't know why you have Argentina so high, they've been generally worse than us in recent times.
Portugal, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Russia, Croatia & Denmark were all better than us in my opinion
USA play about two games a month, usually against weaker opposition, hence they move up the rankings.
We finished above France fair and square, who then surrendered against Spain, and I have to question anyone who didn't get out of their group, especially Russia who couldn't get out of the easiest group in the tournament, they lost to Greece FFS. Think you've just tried to grasp at some teams to justify your statement.
The only team that were worse than England in the whole tournament was Holland. Their are some on here who can live in their own wee fantasy world and think things are okay, when the reality is that the football played by England under the previous and current manager, is woeful and anti football.
