What a shame though that he feels forced to make the public comment in the last paragraph of that interview to presumably put a stop to all the rumours and tittle tattle from our own fans! http://www.bcfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10327~2830974,00.html
Well it should shut people up moaning about us brining in Scottish players, when the man himself said were looking at the top leagues in England not the SPL
"I state now we are not currently looking at players in the SPL, we're looking elsewhere, more specifically on players from the top leagues in England." thank goodness they have know realized Scottish players are crap
http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/look...-League-says/story-16480120-detail/story.html "McInnes hopes to make up to five signings before the new npower Championship campaign kicks off next month" Still nothing on the players who are out of contract at the end of the season with the likes of Skuse, Stead and Pitman being 3 of the bigger names. It does appear from what has been in the papers that his top two targets at the moment are: a keeper and a right footed centre defender. We currently have a listed squad of 24 players, needs lots of work when you look at the current signings going on at other clubs. Cant help but be a little jealous when I look at our squad and then look at Blackburns who this week has brought in Nuno Gomes, Leon Best and Danny Murphy to improve a team likely to go back up but I do believe that on any given day City could beat anyone. GK Dean Gerken Lewis Carey RB Joe Edwards Richard Foster LB NONE CB Liam Fontaine Lewin Nyatanga Louis Carey James Wilson Damion Stewart RM Yannick Bolasie Albert Adomah LM Martyn Woolford Joe Bryan CM Marvin Elliott Neil Kilkenny Cole Skuse Bobby Reid Kalifa Cissé (likely go) Stephen Pearson Jody Morris FW Jon Stead Ryan Taylor Aaron Amadi-Holloway Brett Pitman
There are plenty of Scottish players around who would improve our squad...no end. I dont actually care where they come from as long as they want to play for our shirt and will improve us (not difficult!)
"cant help but be a little jealous when I look at our squad and then look at Blackburns" Nor can I, but then again we ain't run by the biggest joke in football called Venkys and we haven't just been relegated from the premier league with massive financial payments. We need to be a little realistic.
McInnes's statement is nothing more than platitudes and stating the bleeding obvious. Until I see the calibre of any new recruit I will remain very much underwhelmed by the 'goings on' at Ashton Gate.
Patience, I'm sure every club has a few pokers in the fire, but Players/managers are still on holiday so until they get back transfers will be quiet. Del has been with us long enough now to know where we are weak and hopefully improve in those areas. Give it 2-3 weeks and we'll be buzzing to get started!
He is a lot more confident that I am,I just hope he has his signings lined up,as someone else has said on another thread we will go down without new players arriving. He hopefully knows what is arriving.
That was you who said that!! On the top six bottom six thread, you said "we are doomed to league one unless we get some decent signings" I don't think any of the signings we will get, are going to make you happy. We are a club who have been in the bottom half of the league now for 3 seasons. Fighting relegation until the game before last, last season. Our ground situation is dragging on. And we are probably in the bottom third in the league in the wages dept. So players will probably have better options. But there are players out there that will do a job and I trust that Del will do all he can to get them in.
Here goes someone's else's thought over and above mine. Robin reliant posted the below on the top six bottom six thread. I reckon city will be between 18th and 10th depending on the signings made. Exactly - where we finish (and everyone else) depends to a large extent on the signings made between now and the start of season. I can't possibly judge yet as the transfer activity hasn't got going. With no more signings we would go down.
And here was your reply to Robin Unreliant's comment at 13:42 today Originally Posted by robin_unreliant Exactly - where we finish (and everyone else) depends to a large extent on the signings made between now and the start of season. This is your reply Sadly i agree with you unless DM has something up his sleeve we are doomed to League One.
Well RP, I think the message is clear then. City sign 21 yr old Irish International Cunningham from that oasis of football nurseries, Manchester City. As good a result as we could have hoped for to fill the void at left back. If McDel keeps that up, I may have to re-think my bottom 6 prediction
