    Hello Mancs,
Please note I am not trying to wind you guys up but just wanted to know what you guys think of the Liverpool revival thats going on at the moment?
I know both Man Utd and Liverpool have great rivalry and great history and both sets of genuine fans recognise each others success but do you guys have some fear of a Liverpool revival which might cause concern for the future, or do you think its another false dawn in Liverpool?
For me, I think it'll be great to see Liverpool back to challenging for honours at the top table again.
I not a fan of either teams (Villa) but I do have a sentimental attachment to both Utd and Liverpool as I long for a return to the days in the eighties, carefree and when football was about football and not money.

    Thanks guys!

    What revival.
They played against a piss poor team, who happen to have an FA cup semi final in 5 days time.
Unless the get back into the top 4 very soon, they will end up a mid table team.

But it was a good result for them, I will be even happier if they beat arsenal, and hand us the 19th league title.

A few warm days don't make a summer. Things are better for you but your squad is not good enough to sustain a title challenge. Needs an overhaul and there's always the problem that no CL football next season means the top players will not be interested in signing

There is more chance of players signing for Liverpool than there is of players signing for Man United.
Liverpool have money..Man United have the lint in the pocket of slur alcies duffle coat.He wants Gareth Bale in the summer,he'll offer Gibson,a scratch card, £2 million and Carrick, and think he'll be successful. He won't be because Spurs want £30 million, that lot adds up to less than £3 million.

Europa football at Anfield or CL football at Old Trafford. Yeah difficult choice.

    You forgot something.
You need money to buy players
Liverpool put in a bid for X player,Man United can't match it or increase it,the player joins Liverpool simple.
I don't think Liverpool will be betting in the same market as Man United,Liverpool won't be searching around portugese soup kitchens for players.
A film about Fergies summer signings ''28 tramps later''.
Man United should be sponsored by St Vincent De Paul due to their contribution to signing homeless players. He should go and visit Dublin City centre, and okay most of them are crackheads, but he won't have to pay £8 million for them. It'll only cost him some of Wayne Rooneys £500k a week food bill.

For all the banter between the two sets of fans it's not so much a revival more a case of ending an 18 month slump. They have the revenue, the fan base and the brand to get back in the CL and be a threat to the title, the only question is how long it will take. A lot depends on whether they can sign the players they need without the promise of European football, whether they can build a solid team and squad out of the players available, whether City and Chelsea can consolidate their gains before FFP bites and how well City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs can build their revenue in the future.

Since Dalglish took over they have picked up 23 points from 12 games, which is one less than Chelsea, the same as Spurs and five more than City. Over the same period United have 27 and Arsenal have 26. So Liverpool are already performing at the level needed to get CL football. We'll just have to see which out of the clubs in 3rd to 6th place strengthen their squads the most effectively.

I'm not particularly afraid of a Liverpool revival. Over the last two decades United have dealt with Blackburn and Newcastle who were funded by multi millionaires, Chelsea and City who are funded by billionaires, and Arsenal who have one of the best business models in the league. A strong Liverpool will just be another rival. There will be a bit more spice, but I remain quietly confident about United's ability to stay at the top (i.e. in the CL and challenging for honours) in the long term <ok>

Most Liverpool fans are confidant that we are heading in the right direction, and are happy with the new manager and owners. What the future brings lets wait and see. 1 game at a time.

At last a reply with a bit of substance.

I also reckon United will still dominate for a while or atleast until SAF goes but I also expect Liverpool to dine at the top table with Arsenal and Man City with Chelsea falling away. Just my opinion.

Liverpool's fortunes have certainly upturned since Kenny returned and it has been nice to see him make use of some of the younger players (Kelly and Flanaghan).

    The problems, as I see them, are;

Gerrard's gung-ho playing days as a box to box midfielder look spent. This season might just be a 'blip' and who could blame him as he shoulders the burden more than most do for Liverpool to challenge for honours. As he gets older, he cannot be expected to put in the sort of shifts he used to on a regular basis. Lucas and Meireles have done well and need to become dependable mainstays.

Reina has been rumoured to be looking for the exit in search of CL football and honours. Carragher''s lack of pace has been repeatedly cruelly exposed this season and Liverpool need to start phasing him out (a fully fit Agger would do the trick).

NESV may well put more money in to facilitate buying good replacements for these players. However, in recent seasons, many Liverpool fans would point to how strong the spine of the team was (Masch, Alonso, Torres, et all) and say that they were a good winger and a good left back from having the best team. That is all well and good, but having a good 11 is half the battle. As United have shown this season, you need a good 22 these days to compete. Arsenal and Chelsea have both suffered with just one or two key players injured at any time. Our injuries have been well documented and we pushed on between August - December with our best player last season looking like a shadow of his former self.

If Liverpool are going to regain their place at the top and do battle with United, as a club that size should, then they don't just need to bring 3 or 4 players to strengthen the first team, they could do with 5 or 6 decent ones as back-up too.

Interesting that you think Chelsea will fall away - I'd expect City to be more likely to struggle to keep pace as they have further to go in developing their revenues and brand.

I made the same point on the Liverpool board - if they sign all the good players they have been linked with their first team will be able to compete with any of the top clubs. Even with their current team they've been able to beat Utd, Chelsea and City this season, although none of them really put up a fight. But without investing in some dependable squad players as well, their overall squad is going to look very light.

Liverpoo beat a poor side who were not trying 3-0. this poor side will be playing their hearts out on satirday and still get battered by our reserve team 4-0. You are still miles behind us.
    MUFC treble winners 2011.
I`ve been telling 606 and not 606 this since August.

KPR, you do understand that players, good players will want to join a club that are in the CL every season? Therefore, they are more likely to join Man Utd, Chelsea or others than they are to join Liverpool. Just an observation.

Liverpool are not going for a revival, they are just going back to where they used to be, which someone has already pointed out.

What he's saying is United don't have money (which may, or may not, be the case)...
..But City, Real, Barca and Chelsea do...and very few players would turn these guys down for Liverpool these-days...

Players like Bale, Neymar and Sanchez are almost out the question for Liverpool, Ashley Young is the sort of player that they can attract as Chelsea, Barca, Real would be unlikely to go for him...

KPR.. No doubt you'll ignore what i've said and go on about United again... because we're all you care about.....
