I posted on the hammer's board, only got one comment so far about Zola, not sure how to link posts but this is what a hammer said below. He will get the best out of the players, but is a bit tactically inept, if it starts to go wrong he doesn't know what to do, but that comes with experience. I was sad to see him leave and thought he deserved to be given another season, (certainly better than Grant) I really hope he does well with you as he was a likeable guy.
Maybe Zola will bring an experienced assistant in. With the west ham connections could we see the return of Frank Lampard Snr? I personally would love to see Keith Burkinshaw back.
A friend of mine is an avid hammers fan and I was sounding him out about Zola on the golf course a couple of weeks ago. He rated him and believes he would have come good at the hammers given more time.
Burkinshaw is 76 years old now. I don't think he will want to spend much time outside on a wet February morning.
Or Vialli, or Bassett, or........... Perhaps Zola is such an experienced manager that he won't need an assistant - he has, after all, replaced a very promising manager who simply didn't need to be replaced. Anyone heard how all this upheaval impacts on Ross Wilson's position?
Definitely don't need or want lampard anywhere near. It was only when Brenden got rid of that baggage that he started to come good.
I do hope that Zola has a watertight contract. It looks as if you don't get a second chance. Even Hire & Fire doesn't adequately describe that record !! So maybe Mr Zola really is thinking over any offer he may have been given...except his bargaining position can hardly be strong as other clubs still not known to be queuing up for his services. Mr F. should we start a Bring Back George Kirby campaign ? (Hoping he's still on this earth, or apologies to his family)
He was alive and kicking about 18 months ago Yorkie - he made an appearance at a legends night and was on full form. Great stories from his days at NY Cosmos as well.
Not sure this is fair. Yes we lumed it on occasions, but we also played some pretty good football at times last season. One thing Dyche did do was mix things up, more than can be said for some other managers. And at times it worked.
