Eh? As far as I'm aware, Great Britain is England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The Republic is a separate country.
I was going to pull Swords up about that too. Historically, we were a home nations country against our will. When we got to choose ourselves, we got the hell out ASAP.
Hey! Pedants' Corner! Can I join in? Ireland is in fact a 'Home Country' in Rugby Union, because there is a single association covering both the Republic and the North. Not for association football though.At the time the phrase was coined, at the height of the Empire, Swords would have been correct, as Ireland was part of the UK from 1800. In a Footballing sense its water tight as that is what everyone means when they refer to the "Home Nations" - even if Ireland is represented by two (Mickey Mouse) teams. Not you an' all . We've only just managed to get over a whole month of Col, Sooper, Kilburn etc on their sofa's in their string vests, rattling their imaginary sabres at all and sundry. The last thing we need is for you to start dredging up ancient conflicts from the history book as well. The fact is, thankfully its only a matter of time before we all become one United State of Europe administered from Brussels. In a generation or two, people will see their Nationality as European first and foremost and the regional and tribal differences will be eliminated. Then we can stick it up the Yanks and the Chinese too who are starting to big themselves up on the World Stage. The days of the Nationalist are coming to an end and the Dinosaurs mentioned above will either have to accept it and assimilate or become extinct. And its not a moment too soon either.
Two things. 1) Almost every country in the European Union are showing a will to less links to the corrupt, un-elected crooks in Brussels, in opinion polls, including the Germans! The Euro was a ridiculous, one size fits all experiment by the federalists that is falling apart spectacularly. The European Union is totally undemocratic. In your country, when you gave an answer they didn't like in a referendum, they made you do it again!! 2) I would honestly take to the streets and fight for the right to remain British and keep our independence!!

Your threat in point (2) is enough to give me nightmares.
