Wealth and success or lose our players and start again?

Which would you rather have?

  1. Arab billions to buy our dream team

  2. Stay as we are, even if it means losing Modric and others

  1. @ BazSpurs86...

I went for the £billions, but I did so reluctantly. I have absolutely no argument with you chaps who would rather keep to our traditional roots and spurn the big investors.

I'm not sure where the 'mercenary' tag came from other than 'past it' players looking for a payday. This seems to have been manifested by media morons to mean any player who signs for a rich club. Why? If a top player turns up at Spurs with money, plays great football, wins us the league and moves on, I'd say cheers, and be delighted to have seen the player in a Spurs shirt in the first place, knowing another will come in, and that normally would never have signed in the first place. What is wrong with that?

No doubt Goons will tag RVP a mercenary when he goes. Harsh, considering he's hung about for years, its not his fault alone they've won jack ****.

Simple fact is, like us, a few years ago City were going bloody nowhere, wishing every season for a decent cup run as a pinnacle, watching the usual suspects mop up all the trophies, and turning up on our tv's on Tue/Wed nights...fuk it, I've had a lifetime of that.

Of course he is not obsessed with us mate, he logs out of his account to go onto our board (as he is banned for being a WUM) copy's and pastes some of our comments in to a word document, then logs back into his account and post them on the spurs board. Doesn't sound anything like obsession.

Hypocrites of the highest order. Gave us grief for accepting Roman's cash and now nearly all of you want the Arab cash (if it exists). Ha sums you up completely.

Actually, we give you grief because your club would have ceased to exist if it wasn't for Roman's cash.

I see where you're coming from Hod and I'm mixed. I'd like to see Spurs at the top but the top gelt doesn't always buy success.

I'd love to see spurs win a **** load of trophies but....I want spurs to be my club...I wanna be able to afford to keep going...I want my kids to be able to keep going...I don't want us to be the play thing of some rich guy who might get bored and sod off a few years from now leaving us in a mess.
I remember us almost going under in 1991 and would hate to go there again.

But what I want don't matter as it'll either happen or not regardless of what I think so if it does happen I'll guess I'll just have to endure the constant winning of trophies with a fake smile <laugh>...mind you knowing us we'd just find more expensive ways to screw up!

    Show me the money.... <party>

The difference between us and the Chavs is that we have huge support through thick and thin and I am not sure we would actually sell our soul as a club...

  16. I have to do it that way, because I'm banned from your board for speaking truths that some of you poor goonlets cannot bear to hear. Besides, it's not as though I do that on a regular basis. It's just that, on the odd occasion, I come across some absolute pearlers that I am constrained to share with my fellow Spurs fans. Pure comedy gold, like the stuff that some of you Gooners spout, is a rare thing, and it would be remiss of me not to share such top class entertainment with others.

If you think really hard about it, I'm sure you'll agree with me.

If the investors are investing in the team to make money, wonderful. If they're investing to buy prestige, or to have a toy, I'd rather not have the money. I haven't voted because it's not really clear which of the two cases this is. I can't say I'm wild about "oil-rich billionaires" of any ethnicity, but if they're investing with the rational expectation of making money, I wouldn't turn them away.

Keep in mind, for total non-fans Spurs would be a tempting investment. Entertainment is a growing share of the economy, sports is the solidest part of entertainment, football is the biggest chunk of sports, the Prem is the richest league in the world, and a London club with a glorious past that hasn't won much lately could be the likeliest club to multiply in value, especially as it's been doing well lately.

Let's not forget, we're already owned by a billionaire so it's not as if we're piss poor. I think enough investment to allow us to build a new stadium and pay 150k week to our 3 or so top players would be somewhere in the middle for me. Not doing a Man City, but just being able to compete for transfers etc.

I have voted for it simply because you can never have enough money coming into the club

The usual top4 over the years have always had that advantage over the rest of us with the C/L money they had coming in plus the attraction for top players to go to these clubs which meant it was a vicious circle with them holding all the cards.

If investors of any type can close the gap for us with paying wages for top stars to come to us then i'm all for it so long as thier intensions are for real and for the good of the club.

Ah of course, the voice of reason you were, the pearl of wisdom you spouted were legendary, how we were going to finish mid table, how we were finished without fab and nasri, how you were going to finish in the CL and we weren't, and my own personal favourite about how harry was a better manager than wenger.

Even the whole one man team thing was comical, I think it says as much about your team that a supposed one man team can finish above you with all the so called world class players you had. Another comic classic was the notion that only RVP was worthy of a place in your team. Someone once described you on our board as the gift that keeps giving, with these comedy classics, it hard to disagree with that comment.
