Good player in Portugal and for their national team for quite a while. Best & Gomes will be quite a good strike force in this division, if they hit it off.
I hope he has a good 36th birthday on Thursday, too! Given that he used to largely rely on pace, I really can't see him doing much at 36.
he's almost 36 and can't play 90 minutes. He knows where the goal is but the legs don't help anymore.
Haven't they offered him a 2 year contract? I would have thought 1 year would be wiser for a player who is about to turn 36. For the majority of his career he's played in Portugal. Personally I think that the Championship will be a shock to his system and would be surprised if he was a success
I knew he was a vetran, but didn't know he was that old. When it came up on SSN it said he'd played with Fiorentina in Italy. I dunno how well he did there, but both leagues (seria A and champiosnhip) can be quite physical. Another problem for them is how bad Kean is as a manager.
He did play for Fiorentina for 2 years. Most of his career was at Benfica, and last season he was at Braga. I don't know what the Portuguese league is like but I would have thought the Championship would be far more physical, but HFFP could maybe shed more light on that?
Our League its very physical too thats why he hasn't played a lot in the last few years. First in Benfica and last year at Braga. He's got class so despite de 36yo he'll bang a few there.
I saw him in a pre-season game for Fiorentina at Filbert Street and he was a class above anything else on the pitch that day. That was over 10 years ago though...
Been impressed by most of Blackburns signings, they're gonna lose a few but they've brought in quality. Had them down to finish lower/mid table when they came down but can see them being a force now.
Blackburn IMO will Crash and Burn. The players signed up and being linked with are way below the quality of the players that have left or will be leaving. I mean £3m rising to £5m(if they go up next season) is crazy money for a player of Bests ability. Blackburn could well end up as a Pompey if they are not careful. imo.
