None of my posts have been deleted, because I have the self control to keep them within the rules and guidelines, because I am better than you.
Be careful what you wish for! On the old 606 I got pinged by the mods a few times for **** I didn't think was wrong at all! I think it is done right here,it is the close season so we don't have much to talk footy about. We had the Euro thread, we had the Euro fantasy, we had the dedication to Miki, we have summer transfer nonsense guide, then we have the rest ( Lebron James falls into Liverpool footy right? ) I just hope we don't have to go through the Suarez fiasco again, the minute it came back from the FA "guilty" this board just got ****ing hammered for months. Still does sometimes. :/ Lucaaas, I'm giving you the best american bro-hug I can at the moment.
In my much asked for opinion, as a regular (but not frequent) poster I think the moderators do an excellent job. It's what keeps me coming back to this forum despite there being more populated ones. The only issue for me is the derailment of threads with pointless conversations unrelated to the topic. This issue isn't the fault of the moderators or anyone though. With tons of posts per day it must be quite the effort to clean up all of them yet I've never seen something controversial that hasn't been removed or a poor WUM not being banned so I'm very happy with the level of moderation. Cheers to all of you. What I meant by my minor complaint was that this forum has the tendency to start derailing serious threads into jokes, WUMfests, and off topic teasing of each other. I love the occasional laugh when I'm checking this board but when people completely go overboard and forget what a thread is about it lowers the quality of the discussion for me. It's a bit inevitable with nothing happening at the club and I don't blame anyone for keeping sane with some conversation. So I will happily salute the moderators and fellow posters who do their part in banning/deleting/debating and I will definitely keep on posting.
I think Baz is getting some serious grief when Sig signs for Spurs This is actually a good thread btw and it is worthy of debate SN as I appreciate certain threads descend into madness. What I would say is that its easy enough to engage in football talk if the general conversation isn't for you...just post an opinion and someone will usually react. The Euro's thread was excellent, the debates about BRs appointment and potential impact and styles have been good as were the discussions on ground re-development etc The problem is most of us have had our say on those topics and when we come on here and nothing much is happening then we just carry on and convo drifts.
The problem with this time of year is that apart from the odd signing not much is happening regards our preferred teams. I can only speak for myself on this, but, due to the lack of new and interesting topics on my particular board, i tend to spend a bit more time reading the OP`s on other boards. Part of this is keeping track with what the developments are at rival clubs, or what the local gossip/links to that club which may not have been made public. As for posting on a rivals board, i do for various reasons, sometimes in defence of my team, sometimes to congratulate another team. I also make posts as from a neutrals view and admittedly i sometimes make tongue in cheek posts in the form of banter. I have my morals though and never post banter on a tragedy type thread. As for SN`s comment regarding certain posters wumming other boards and creating tit for tat on the LFC board, i don`t think is necessarily true. Take Bazray for example (he seems flavour of the month), he seemed a total **** when he first started wumming on the Utd board, yet since he got involved in the prediction thing he still shows his complete LFC bias but everyone knows he likes a laugh and a joke. If all supporters only posted on their own particular teams board, slapped each other on the back and agreed with each other on every single thread, the forum would become stale and die a death from boredom. Anyway just been on BBC website and they have the new seasons league table up. Lfc are in 6th place, bet your not that high once the season starts.
Just a lack of topics to comment on, like many have said above - anything that does need a good chat/debate has already been done now so we are just floating about until the season starts. Agree with daniloelnino regarding derailing of threads - how many good threads end up talking about ketchup & brown sauce, surely not funny any more lads!
The silly threads are down to the time of year without a doubt, come the actual season I would think that a lot of them would be closed by the mods for bringing unwanted attention onto the board. The lads that go off looking for banter on other threads would also need to refrain from this during the season as once again it will mean there is a reaction from that board. I think it's fun to have some daft threads at this time of year as long as it stops when the footy starts. It's the same for wums, I imagine if they are still around when the footy starts that the mods will be less tolerant. Zlatan thinks he is being clever but there are no rules and a mod can have him removed if the majority on here feel he disrupts the board. Banning people should not be the first reaction but if it's needed then why not.
I've derailed a few wum's threads with recipes etc and will continue, easiest thing to do is for a mod to close the threads, but they like to let our members take the piss before doing so.
It's the close season. nothing is going on so i'd rather let random discussion take over as it provides a constant stream of activity. If we stuck to Liverpoool only discussion during the close season there would currently be no conversation ,the forum would be dead and people would be looking for more active forums (or staying on twitter/facebook). I don't mind the odd bit of wumming/banter but there is a line and when the line is crossed, posters are dealt with. I'm probably the most laid back mod in the team (I've been modding/admining forums for the last 12 years... some in excess of 5,000 active members) and I had someone banned only last week. Let silly season pass and review the forum in September/October and if its still not your thing then i'd happily recommend RAWK (I post occasionally over there as well) Bozz
Good thread, It's important that others see that the mods are on board and that they will deal with threads and wums in the appropriate manner once the season starts. In the meantime let the stupidity continue.
At least this board gets 30 pages on a topic without Luv having to do all the posting (not naming any other website ). I doubt I can interest you in some DIY, storm survival or gardening techniques then?
If we just ban wums or delete their posts every time they start we'll only leave ourselves open to accusations of being unable to cope with an alternative opinion. Usually we can handle the wums by bantering back. Occasionally one goes too far, any disrespectful posts about tragedies should be deleted immediately. Some just get tedious- Zlatan has become a bore because his posts are unfunny and lack invention. I think most of us have shown that we can talk seriously on topics when the need is there. The rather surreal humour that comes in sometimes may not suit everybody, but I can't see that it does any harm. Our mods get the balance right, for me. They're not here to censor things according to their own ideas, but to keep it running smoothly and the majority of posters happy.
