Wealth and success or lose our players and start again?

?

Which would you rather have?

  1. Arab billions to buy our dream team

  2. Stay as we are, even if it means losing Modric and others

  1. Time to divide the faithful...!!!

With the growing rumours that Spurs have an Arab investor waiting in the wings, there is the possibility that we could have a seriously large injection of cash to not only keep the top players we already have, but also to buy in those that we have fought so hard - and in vain - to get in during previous windows. We don't yet know if (a) the rumour is true, or (b) the club is being sold, either in whole or in part, or (c) the money is an advance on the naming rights for our proposed new stadium.

    But...

Assuming that a large chunk of the club's share-holding is to be sold to an Arab investor and that we get in a substantial injection of cash, enough to put us up there with the Chavs and £ity, how would you guys feel about that?

I want to take a quick flash-poll, so this exercise is going to be put in stark, black and white terms, even though I do appreciate that feelings among most of us will be more ambivalent on the subject, perhaps.

Look the whole way football has gone sickens me yet I still love the game. We can't swim against the tide and I'd rather see Spurs up there PROVIDED they stay true to their traditions.

So, I don't want to see any of this money thing but it's there so we live with it or sink.

Investors should be welcomed providing they are ethically sound. The poll is too black and white, how about a bit of grey?

  5. So, I take it that you vote for the £billions, Spurf?

  6. It's purposely black and white. No sitting on the fence. There's another thread where posters have been saying "it's dreadful how football has been sold to the highest bidder, blah, blah, blah!"

Well, there you have it. That's the reality of the game today.

Do you want the £billions or don't you? If you take them, you can't put your own own conditions on them.

This is a flash-poll, after all.

Only an idiot would refuse investment. Whats the alternative, watch the CL on tv along with the rest of the Spurs team for the coming years! Players come and go from teams with or without money. Those with money are perhaps harshly tagged with 'mercenary'....Ade the medias most notable example of this is still in talks with us proving the 'wages' argument is just a bandwagon to slate people, in fact he knows aswell as anyone his City career is finito and he won't be getting 170k a week elsewhere.

I don't see that having money means a compulsory change in the club ethics. It will obviously happen at some point with the new ground project. If such a thing was to happen to say Everton, would we be jealous?...bloody right we would. <ok>

I took the billions. (As long as the long-term interests of the club are considered)

  11. I've got to say, that I would love to see us leave the Chavs and the Gooners in our wake, and make a concerted challenge for the title. It would be great to see the smug grins wiped off the faces of all those so-called professional pundits who never give us a chance, season in and season out, even though over the last seven years we've finished 5th, 5th, 11th, 8th, 4th, 5th, and 4th.

Imagine the carnage on the Goonlet board, as they slowly tear themselves to pieces!

I do believe that PESKIE would hang himself.

I voted no. If I wanted a soulless mercenary club to support, I would follow Chelsea. I have made my views clear to City and Chelsea fans enough over the years and I would be a hypocrite if I now welcomed it for us. I'd like enough investment that we could raise wages by 10/20% to hold on to our better players and bid for the odd £20m player, but the thought of £200k a week mercanaries in the Lilywhite shirt fills me with horror.

As there's only 2 choices that are at both ends of the spectrum, I gotta go for the "arab billions to buy our dream". that seems to be the fashionable thing to do these days.

although I'd hope that this would actually be "investment", by which I mean a proper investment. one that has come about from a sound business model and future projections.

Nope, cant be any worse than his obsession with us can it?

  18. Nope.

That's got to be because you must be looking for every post I make that happens to mention your team. I don't do that very often, compared with the number of posts I make.

I reckon you have a crush on me, pal. Sorry, but I'm straight, and married.
