http://www.wycombewanderers.co.uk/page/LatestNews/0,,10430~2829085,00.html No time wasted! And glad I was proved wrong on our chances of getting Docherty! So far: Centre-back. Gary Doherty has joined the club on a two-year deal following an impressive three-month loan spell at Adams Park last season Midfield. Matt Spring has penned a two-year deal with the Blues. Spring, 32, made 50 appearances for Leyton Orient last season and adds a wealth of experience and creativity to the Wanderers midfield Left-winger/full-back. Sam Wood, 28, also joins on a two-year deal after leaving Brentford. The versatile left-winger, who can also operate at full-back, played six times for the Bees last season and 27 appearances on loan at Rotherham United. Striker. Pacey attacker Dennis Oli has put pen to paper on a one-year deal, with the option of a further 12 months. The 28-year-old knows Waddock well from their time together at QPR and he joins after making more than 100 appearances for Gillingham. Winger. Talented young winger Lee Angol has agreed a one-year deal following his release by Tottenham Hotspur. The 18-year-old came through the ranks at Spurs and is also comfortable playing off the front man. Striker. Richard Logan has signed on a one-year deal having been released by Exeter
Have to say I am particularly pleased with the two experienced players we have signed, if Spring still has the quality he has always shown against us.
very pleased with the doc, also like denis oli after having seen gillingham a fair few times... would be interesting to know why spring and oli were released, but ah well good deals for us!
great news, the doc is a great signing if he plays like he did when on loan here last season and his experience can only help young anthony stewart .pleased with all the signings now lets crack on and back the team next season.
It's good how annoyed Orient fans seem to be that we've got Spring. Someone even calls him 'The League 1 Pirlo'. Described as hardworking and composed with good passing ability, should be a good signing
just been on the orient forum myself - they all seem gutted theyve lost him and shocked hes gone to wycombe!
Finchy, I've changed your heading slightly and stuck the thread so it can be used for all signing news. OK?
Great news, especially the Doc who I think will be made captain, Woods I also think will be a good signing but don't know much about the rest. Can someone tell me if we are looking at first team players here or squad players and if first team who will they be replacing? Where else do you think we need to strengthen, I think another striker (I hope you are right Finchy) if that was Hayes I would be so happy, however doubt it as I think he is still contracted to Charlton. I only hope that Waddock has learnt from past mistakes and these don't turn out to be another bunch of duds.
Proposaed Neologism: Dubeous -similar to dubious but applied specifically to football when relating to a player of like ability to a certain ex Wycombe dud.
Doc, Spring and Oli are very impressive signings. Not sure Doc will be made captain as Blooms has just signed on again. Cant see us getting Hayes - he scored regularly in LG 1 and is prob on a fair wad. Hope im wrong though Excellent to see new signings and the Trust in full control. Nice to have some good news - heres to aiming high next season
I suppose I have been a little unkind to Oli but I never thought I would see him in a Gills shirt again when he was put up for a free and no one wanted him. Then this goes and happens... http://www.gillingham.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=275337 Sorry to direct you to another site but that is a report I wrote for vital at the time. Then after that this... http://www.gillingham.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=278630 So it goes to demonstrate us fans know nothing
You never really know what you're going to get when signing a new player. When Stuart Lewis came, it was on paper the least inspiring signing of the decade, yet we thought we'd get a world beater when we signed Dubes. Goes to show it's better to wait and see how they get on.
