Explain 9/11 then and the worst ever terrorist attack which came a full 18 months BEFORE the 2nd Iraq invasion and (a month before Afghanistan) which was instigated btw to stop Saddam using his WMD's - weapons that EVERY single world leader, including the 'saintly' Hans Blix, beleived he had as he had already used them on the Muslim Kurds in March 1998. That he didnt but bragged he had is his downfall not an illegal war. History will judge the actions of Bush and Blair differently imo in both Iraq and Afghanistan and they were the only world leaders prepared to draw a line in the sand against extreme Muslim fundamentalism and terrorism 10 years agoand lets not forget that Al Qaeda had training camps in Afghanistan, learning young men and women how to blow up the streets of America, Britain and mainland Europe. If you think that by doing nothing that we wouldn't have been attacked then you are as thick as you are ignorant. To just turn a blind eye and pretend its all the fault of the Americans - hundreds of 1000's of which willingly gave their lives in 2 world wars in defending these shores and the British people by the way and I find it offensive to blacken their memory and sacrifice as well btw - is pure folly. I have a massive admiration and respect for our armed forces and like many here want them to come home asap. Stories like today sadden the heart, however, there is a job to be done and until it is done I'm sure none of those brave lads out there would want to abandon their fallen comrades ultimate sacrifices and memories so readily.
I agree with some of what you say Cest but unfortunenately, I've worked with the Yanks & they are ****.
All fine words but will it be done, I think not, many more will die, we will eventually leave because its what the public will want and votes will be at risk then Afghanistan will return to how it was. I may be wrong but I bet I'm not. How many died in Iraq, soldiers and civilians and is it really a safe happy place without bombings and death, I fear not. The way forward in overthrowing these regimes is what's happening in Syria, many are dying but none are are toops, until the people of the country are prepared to die fir their cause we need to leave well alone. My memory of invading Afghanistan was to find Bin Larden, I believe he is dead and was killed in Packistan.
