A flop if you expected 20 goals and 30 assists, but if you want to be entertained and see individual skill he was value for money after the African Cup of Nothing. And for me, sometimes, even when there is no end product, those little flights of imagination that no one else has, are enough. Admire him as I do, a team of 11 Jamie Mackies ( another one I was wrong about) would do my head in. Doesn't mean Tarbs is above criticism though, and his behavior and childishness make it hard (for me) to warm to as a person.
Ah that old chestnut. Way to tell three quarters of this board they've no right to an opinion COL! It seems to me, some people on here are a little bit dense. The question is "did he have a good Season" not did he have a good last few games. And the answer is an undeniable NO! He flopped on the big stage just like some of us predicted he would. Not because of a lack of skill but because of a lack of mental aptitude and maturity. He was fu*king useless for three quarters of the Season and was openly flirting with other Clubs along with storming out of grounds at half time. He came good near the end and hopefully he can carry that through to next Season. Some people have short memories.
He entertains like no other player we have and more than the majority in the prem, He is worth the entrance money alone, like FFS says, even if there's no end product, he is sublime to watch. The question isn't only "did he have a good season". All his attributes and failings are being discussed here. He's petulant, immature, selfish and falls perfectly into the category of our previous "No 10s"...Stan and Rodney. Pure entertainment.....give me that any day!!
Look up how many times he hit the aluminium in the first few weeks of last season and then ask yourself how good is your memory!
Can't remember hitting the aluminium being worth any damn thing in Football but let me check the rules Ozzie and I'll get back to you.
That's a reasonable post. We're just different I guess. When you see a whole move break down because his end-product is bad, you think "ah well this is entertainment". You're not alone in that one to be fair. There's plenty of people that think the same. But when I see that it drives me absolutely insane to the point that I want to hall the lad off. By the way, we're discussing last season. No one is saying, not least me, that he won't tear it up next season. As we've always agreed, his talent is not in question. Its his temperament and bratishness that destroys his game. I would just like you to have a bit of humility please and concede that those of us who questioned those qualities going into the big league have, beyond any shadow of a doubt, been proved to be correct for the season just gone.
See now....you know what he meant. With a little luck, Adel's confidence could have soared early in the season. But you have to keep on with the wind up. I'm pretty sure people will leave this site because of you Swords!
If you want to believe that I'm just wumming, that's fine. But I'm certain you find it impossible to accept an opinion contrary to your own. Your behaviour towards Queens on this thread is evidence of that in itself.
Can you not read? The title is " Taarabt latest"!! You would prefer to watch 11 Mackies and others would prefer to watch flair players!
That's a fair criticism. I've held my hands up before in that I'm too old school. I just hate players clowning around on the ball and showing off instead of doing what they should. Its not an anti-Taarabt thing. Its any of them. Having watched Balotelli's petulance and strutting around against England I would have dropped him for the next game. In fact, after his antics towards the dug-out having scored in the previous game against Ireland, I wouldn't even have played him against England. The problem with that is he went on to score two against the Krauts and I wouldn't even have had him on the park! So I do know I have a problem accepting the behaviour of the modern flair players. My patience wouldn't be up to it. I've conceded that much. Is there any way you can concede something so we can meet somewhere in the middle and form some sort of consensus on this enigmatic player of ours?
You can ask me all you want ESPANA. I seen over 20 last Season. The rest I either watched on stream or listened to QPR World Commentary. Not ideal obviously but its the best I can do. Surely that entitles me to an opinion, no?
That threat was made last week and I PM'd the chap in question. He never even replied. In fact he came on no more during the week I stepped out than if I was posting him full on in the face! Idle threats, that's all they are.
Without predjudice, I think all of Swords claims and points are totally valid. In the same way I also acknowledge rangercols postings here as a much respected poster. With that in mind, I believe that Taarabt is indeed a hoop and is learning and improving all the time under Hughes. Like Swords, I had my doubts about Taarabts tempermant and attitude. I think Sparky has the measure of him, without detracting from his game, he will improve this season.. I expect to see great things from Taarabt , he will be a Ranger and he will be the player that everyone wants. He will be worth the entrance fee alone and he will be ours. Taarabt will be a world name as will QPR... onwards and upwards....U Rsssssss.
Can't argue with any of that. I'm slowly bringing my "give it and go" old-fashioned head around to the position of encouraging our talented boys. After all, I argued time and again throughout the Euro's that our (Home Nations) problems lie squarely in not producing ball loving players at a young age. It would therefore be very hypocritical of me to slate Tarbs because he tries summat different. That is my failing and I'm constantly having to bring my mind around to that position. When a certain footballing philosophy is ingrained in your Nut, its very hard to change it - but changing it I am. And I do feel that under Hughes, Taarabt can be brilliant for us next season. I just hope the kid does a bit of growing up this Summer because that's all his game needs to make him a top player.
Swords, I agree with you. But then I also agree with what rangercol says. So what we have is QPR fans arguing at different ends of the spectrum. You're both thoughly respected posters both bleating about the same thing. Get over yourselves and move on. It's all good being a Rangers fan nowadays. Please let us stay up, again. That is all I ask for.
