Life; is just great for me, being able to do or go or try almost anything within the law, sometimes on the edge of the law, and just occasionally jumping over the line!!! Some other stuff; a) Having a wife who loves footy as much as me. b) Having a wife who loves travelling with me. c) Having a wife who loves the same music as me. d) Having a wife who got really angry because she couldn't skydive with me due to being 8 months pregnant. e) I could go on for ever, but She is better than football, no contest! f) A pint or two or three of Broadside from the Swan in Southwold, would push Football back a bit. It only travels a few yards to get there, and it's wonderful!!! g) Watching the Monaco Grand Prix live IS better than football. h) Sometimes, just sometimes a great big **** is better than football! All these things are life experiences, so I go back to my first comment, LIFE is better than football, enjoy it, don't regret it! ILD OTBC
Hhhhmmmm, excuse me, could you clarify as the last time I visited hospital, I was tended by a male nurse!
ILD -Tried Ghost Ship? My mate is a Broadside fan whereas I drank Adnams ornery bitter. We both agree though that Ghost Ship is better.Order it as I do "Pint of Goose Step please"
Ghost ship is a great pint but Broadside is by far the best Adnams beer That's about the only thing I look forward to when I go to Portman Road these days!
The absolutely incredible new album by Dexys is currently my favourite thing in the whole world, I simply cannot recommend the album highly enough, it is an absolute triumph. Kevin Rowland is my hero and his return to form, and being fortunate enough to see them perform the new album in it's entirety at Shepherds Bush Empire earlier this year was the highlight of my decade so far by some distance But even that is going to be usurped in September when the wife and I introduce our first born into the world. Haven't experienced having a child yet, but I am 100% with Carra in anticipating it to be the best thing ever - seriously can't wait to meet her and buy her her first canary kit!!
Yes "Johan", have tried it, and liked it, but I have to agree with the binner on this one, Broadside for me. I bought some 'Sole Star' at the Norfolk show, not realising it was only 2.7%!! It's got the Broadside tang to it but it does taste a bit watered down. How many of those at that volumn can you drink and still legally drive I wonder? Got to be the 'only' reason to go to Portman Road these days Eh JWM?? Personally I would go almost anywhere for a pint or two of Broadside, BUT, would have to draw the line at Portaloo Rd. ILD OTBC
ILD You obviously have a very sophisticated pallet! I'm sure you will agree that Abbot Ale is another great pint Brewed in Suffolk of course!
I do enjoy a pint of Abbot, makes me feel filthy but I can't stop myself. Broadside is a real mans ale. Of course Wherry is the natural choice.
I will have to concede that to our Suffolk cousins, they do brew some smashing ales, but JWM, don't you dare tell a soul I said that!!! Me and a mate once got so pissed on Abbot that we were carried out of the pub by a load of soldiers, thrown into a ditch and spent a good couple of hours having the biggest giggle ever. Neither of us could actually get out of the ditch let alone walk. Ahhhhh happy days. ILD OTBC
Yep congrats Sid... Did Acle Chris have his baby too? I know he mentioned it a few weeks ago. I've had two boys and had the privilege of holding them both almost immediately after birth for a good 30 mins while my better half was sorted out by the nurses. Amazing experience and puts the rest of your life in persepctive. My oldest (4) starts Soccer Joeys in a couple of weeks. You never know he could be the next great Australian import to Carrow Rd since.... oh hang on!
Thanks lads, appreciate it! These next couple or so months are going to fly by, it's without doubt definitely the most exciting - and scariest!! - thing I've ever experienced, we both so can't wait to meet her (as she is a 'her', and no I'm not allowed to involved Delia anywhere in the naming process ) I'm just glad the old swimmers are still in full working order after the battering I've given them over the years
Just watched (again) 'Lost in Translation', one of my favourite films. (Her indoors is away, what else are you gonna do?) OK, bit drunk and soppy, but a great few lines from that: Bob: It gets a whole lot more complicated when you have kids. Charlotte: It's scary. Bob: The most terrifying day of your life is the day the first one is born. Charlotte: Nobody ever tells you that. Bob: Your life, as you know it... is gone. Never to return. But they learn how to walk, and they learn how to talk... and you want to be with them. And they turn out to be the most delightful people you will ever meet in your life. That, in a nutshell, mes amis, is Father (or Mother) hood.
Don't know if it's still around but Charles Wells "Fargo" used to be a nice drop of stuff in the 70's. (Just googled it isn't)
