Shhhhh! Don't put them straight! If Liverpool - and anyone else - wants to believe that Dempsey is a flash-in-the-pan who isn't worth signing, who are we to correct them? (cough) Brian Woolnough certainly knows what he's talking about. More people should listen to him. Yes indeed.
It now looks as though late comers Southampton are favourites for Buttner - http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2012/07/02/3215262/b%C3%BCttner-hopes-southampton-can-reach-transfer-agreement-with?source=breakingnews I reckon we should walk away from this one - although I suspect we already had when our bid was turned down.
Nope there's no nudity, although it would have been better to look at than the trash this 'columnist' wrote. Here's the story: LIVERPOOL SHOULDN'T GAMBLE ON FULHAM'S ONE-HIT WONDER CLINT DEMPSEY Liverpool are attempting to land Fulham talisman Clint Dempsey Clint Dempsey scored 23 goals in all competitions last season FULHAM want £10m for American centre-forward Clint Dempsey and Liverpool are tempted. That kind of investment would represent a huge gamble by Liverpool on the 29-year-old. Dempsey scored 23 goals in all competitions last season but all strikers have a golden year and that was his. I doubt if he will get close to that figure again and new Kop boss Brendan Rodgers must also ask himself whether Dempsey and Andy Carroll can mix. Carroll will no doubt return to Anfield with his confidence high after his successful Euro 2012 display.
Posting as an early warning system - the hoops have signed Fabio on a season long loan from Man Utd. You know who are bound to appear here - BEST TO IGNORE
You mean Man Utd's third choice right back? Well I guess it was better than starting Man City's fourth choice right back.
His agent has confirmed that PL clubs are interested - http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/agent-admits-english-interest-fulham-west-brom-target-nicklas-helenius-3321521?utm_source=taxonomy_landing_page Don't know much about him but he seems, on paper, a good prospect. Still think however, that Jol is 'showing interest' as a fall back.
The Americans are catching on to Dempsey's value. I suppose articles like this one might help to sell a few more Club shirts - http://www.nesn.com/2012/07/report-clint-dempsey-could-command-record-transfer-fee-for-american-soccer-player.html
Good question, Bandit. Even if he leaves tomorrow, I think I'd have to keep his name. I actually had a different name years ago back on the BBC board, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was. I haven't been blogging much the last few months. Normally I'd take a break at work and read what people had been thinking about, but I've been so busy at work - and so tired when get home - that I've been able to spend the time. Hopefully that will change.
Salomon Kalou The local rag, which is usually reliable, is running a story that we're in for Kalou - http://www.ealinggazette.co.uk/sport/fulham-fc-ealing/2012/07/03/82029-31314620/ He's on a free transfer but goodnes knows what he'll be looking for in wages, which has to make it doubtful. I could see him fitting in with Jol's style however, so guess it's wait and see.
This is what the Daily Mail reported in February http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...3/Salomon-Kalou-offered-new-Chelsea-deal.html I wouldn't offer him more than £35k p/w- he is a good player but not worth breaking our structure for. I can't see it happening though, another club will offer him more.
It's amazing Kalou's only 26. Seems like he's been around forever. I'm with Silky ... he's good, but he's certainly no better than Duff. And he's certainly not as good as Dempsey. Unless we lose a winger, I'm not interested.
He's a striker primarily DR, but he's one of the kind that gets lumped on the wing often. Like I said when they released him, he's never really blown me away. I guess if the wages are right, he'd be worth a chance.
Depending on whether or not Chelsea sign a striker or two, I'd have liked to see us go in for Sturridge. Although now that Kalou and Drogba have departed, they may want to hang onto him.
It's kind of revelevant - you'll see under the 'Olympic Squad' thread I've posted that Sturridge has possibly contracted meningitis.
