Exactly, thats why I don't rate Scottish players With regards tio Usain, being fast isn't my argument. Can he turn quickly, accelerate over and over again. Usain Bolt isn't built for those things, he's built for one off straight line speed.
Carrabuh- you don't understand why Usain Bolt is the fastest man on earth then. The reason he is able to compete with the shorter guys is because his acceleration is as good. The reason why he is faster is because, being so tall, his top speed is on a different level. His start is impressive and his technique, while not perfect, is excellent. It is his acceleration that sets him apart. Given the technique of a 100m sprint start, he would have no problem changing direction and accelerating, and it would still be as fast as anyone.
fine. "Exactly, thats why I don't rate Scottish players" you don't rate ANY scottish footballers cos of how they were brought up to learn the game. none of this has diddly to do with a players natural ability and is a ludicrous generalisation. rangers coaching and training facilities, although not where he was brought up, but where he has played for the past five years, are outstanding. "With regards tio Usain, being fast isn't my argument. Can he turn quickly, accelerate over and over again." you've not watched him, have you?
that was about the only good thing he ever did though! i agree he wasn't that bad... he was worse than that!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrWSShpu1Mc Explain this Carrabuh? Taller Fatter and smokes, but faster! The tide comes in and goes out moment maybe?
i feel somewhat sad that i must leave this farcical thread but unfortunately i do. i look forward to reading some more of carrabuh's pearls later have a good sunday folks and lets hope jacob butterfield is unveiled tomorrow!
Being fast was not my argument, being tall was my argument. Speed for a footballer is not just running in a straight line. If that was the case all full backs would be very tall and fast because that would be perfect. They are not, they are usually small so to adapt to an opposing player movement, and fast because wingers are generally fast. Height is more restrictive in those positions, and slows down your ability to turn. Even Ronaldo doesn't really turn alot, there is a strong focus on straight lines. Messi however is different and plays more side to side.
Saying that Barcelona are boring is like saying classical ballet is boring compared to modern ballet; it just shows that boringness is in the eye of the beholder and each person's judgement in that respect tells you something about the person, not the particular style of football or type of ballet. Also, there's no "correct" way to play football. However, in the case of football, unlike say ballet, there's the question of effectiveness measured in terms of winning games when different styles meet head to head. History shows that effectiveness of style is ephemeral, one way of playing the game being effective at one time but seldom for long. That is to be expected, since the weaknesses of today's most effective style are identified and attacked, leading to the emergence of a new more effective style. Thank goodness, otherwise football would be boring!
I shall now leave but I am glad to have learned that: Scotland is renowned for producing players with touch and technique Usain Bolt would make a great right back because he is tall and can run quickly Spain only pass the ball to bore the English to death (with no game tactic) Crossing a % ball to no-one in particular (but a dangerous area, I might add) is harder than precision passing 100% of the time. Whittaker is a great signing, although we have established for a right back he's not a good defender (not my words, although to be fair being Scottish he can play pretty much anywhere) You should always support England and English football (because we know best), regardless. Many thanks to you all
I too have learnt alot from you carra, namely: Scotland have never produced a decent footballer Being tall makes you an awful full back with no pace England are rubbish because they can't complete 5 yard passes Crossing is easy yet passing is hard when crossing is a form of passing Whittaker is a rubbish signing because he is tall and Scottish No Sir, many thanks to you! Any chance you can go support QPR?
Your point would be well made if: "Scotland is renowned for producing players with touch and technique." Anyone had actually said this; "Usain Bolt would make a great right back because he is tall and can run quickly." Anyone had actually said this; "Spain only pass the ball to bore the English to death (with no game tactic)." Spain had beaten England the last time they tried this; "Crossing a % ball to no-one in particular (but a dangerous area, I might add) is harder than precision passing 100% of the time." I hadn't satisfactorily demonstrated above that, simply by virtue of crossing being over a longer distance, crossing accurately is quite obviously harder than passing accurately; "Whittaker is a great signing, although we have established for a right back he's not a good defender (not my words, although to be fair being Scottish he can play pretty much anywhere)." This had ever been your point in the first place; "You should always support England and English football (because we know best), regardless." Anyone had ever said this. We should support England because it is a marriage- for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer. You are a fairweather fan; Unfortunately, given those above statements, your point was not well-made. "Many thanks to you all" Likewise.
No- is he the presenter from Canary Call? I'm a lawyer. I've always assumed you were the main person ringing in, using different voices. I think the fact that your best effort of dealing with the points I made is to suggest I might be a tool! HAHAHAHA
