i think the only area which needs no attention is in goal to be honest. i'd be happy strengthening every single area
No no no no no no, don't you remember that canary caller pointed out that Ruddy was ruddy awful? I think he was spot on
There are reasons why JB has been linked with Newcastle, Everton and villa (b4 PL era) and thats because the boy has serious talent and if my club has the chance of getting a player like that on board then I'm more than happy. Also at around 500k - 1mil in compo you cant really complain. The one thing that would be a downside is his injury, I don't know how much longer he will be out??
Operated on in December, typical recovery for ACL is 7-9 months (footballers can do 7 with the intensive physio they get, but precautionary would be 9 months, so he should be available mid-August. Full fitness will be more like 18-24 months on that knee, though that won't stop him playing properly, merely that concerns the potential of the graft to get damaged again.
Hmm, completely underwhelmed with both 'signings' TBH. Perhaps we're now finding out what Lambert's 'reasons' for leaving were ? While I don't think we should be going crazy and throwing money about, I think we should be shopping in M & S now at the very least and not Aldi. Just my opinion and I hope I'm proved wrong, but I'm starting to get a little bit concerned now
But surely most people were saying this of Pilkington, E. Bennett, Ryan Bennett at the time they were signed - in fact 95% of players brought in by Lambert. We don't yet know whether Hughton has the same skills in this department as Lambert but with Ewan Chester back in the fold, let's at least give him the chance to prove that he knows what he's doing before trotting out the Aldi comparisons?
All I'm saying is that with a transfer kitty of alledgedly £20M ?, why are we still scratching around in the bargain basement that's all
I'm not entirely convinced about the £20m transfer kitty. The figures don't quite add up. I think people are a little too inclined to be optimistic and certain members of the Norwich board are a little to keen to slightly exaggerate reality. My best guess is that we don't spend more than about £10m-12m including wages this summer.
I did mention about this player when I started an earlier thread (New Signing???) before Steven Whittaker signed for Norwich, thought I'd got it wrong when Whittaker signed now it seems I might not be wrong after all.
So are you saying, because we have a large kitty, we shouldn't be going for decent players because they are too cheap? Sounds a bit QPR esque to me!
According to somebody on Twitter (I know) he spoke to Delia and MWJ at a pub earlier and they said somebody signed this morning and will be unveiled tomorrow, while MWJ said that a "second striker" is on the way. Not sure what second striker means if this guy is telling the truth.
Which, as of now, is untouched. If Holt stays, we won't need to replace him; if he goes, the kitty will be increased by his upfront fee. I'm amazed at how some fans rush in with criticism and negativity. If the transfer window shut tomorrow some disquiet might be in order!
All true. How much do we reckon Whittaker is on? I imagine the combined cost of the released players easily covers his wages.
Agreed, but one or two won't do any harm especially with one or two potentially leaving. I think our current midfield is good enough as it is otherwise but I remember during last season a huge number of people moaning about our midfield and complaint that they weren't involved in games. In my opinion that statement was a load of rubbish and people were agreeing without making a decision for themselves.
By all reports, Butterfield is a creative player with vision, able to open up defences with a pass. To me he sounds more like a future replacement for Wes than a replacement for JH.
So tomorrow might not be butter field but a striker ? Could be bollox as Michael and delia might have a policy of saying nothing Whatever happens, sounds like we've plenty to talk about in the next week or so
