Don't want to temp fate here, but with the takeover seemingly nearly there it's hard not to dream of what might be about to happen. Personally, I'd be well satisfied with the new owners having a majority, buy back of Elland Rd & Thorpe Arch or at least a definite time scale to do it in. A transfer fund of say 5 million but perhaps more importantly, scrapping of our miserly wage structure. That could pave the way to keeping Snoddy, which I think will happen, and the possibilities of being able to chase a different calibre of player in the transfer market than we've been able to in recent years. It would be a bonus if Bates was gone altogether, but I don't think that's all that important in comparison to the rest of my wish list. Harvey and Lorimer out the door as well would be an added bonus. Roll on the takeover hopefully this week
Best would be that the new owners would have more money to waste than Man City and Chelsea although I am not sure how it would feel to totally buy success in that fashion. Worse would be that the club re-invests profits, player sales would be handed straight back to buy new players and a starting pot of money for Warnock to use that could see us sign players who cost £500k to 1M and no more scraping the barrel of left overs.
OP, I can see it happening once only, but I am sure many of us won't tire about hearing/seeing it multiple times.
Not interested in us doing a Leicester or a Blackburn or a Pompey. If we can redirect a lot of the current money so that we stop spending money on stuff that costs a lot and adds no value to the football side of things, then we will have lots more money to spend on the team and on reducing ticket prices. That will bring the supporters back immediately, thus making more money. We need quality players and a quality manager and quality setup to bring them along. We already have two of the three, and a (very small) nucleus of the first that can be built on but does not have to cost that much. Once we show that the whole atmosphere around ER has changed, players will be clamouring to play for us, and it does not have to cost the earth. Unlike Leicester, who have to pay through the nose to get billy nobody to play for them and live there.
I would like to see a kids ticket programme introduced. It could be the least attractive game, once a month, with each adult ticket one can get 2 kids (under 16) tickets for £5 or £10 each.
This The club, once run properly, can generate enough money by itself to fund a promotion contending team. Also with crowds and positivity returning then the atmosphere will improve. I dont mind getting beat as much if ive enjoyed the atmosphere. Cant take paying £30 to be bored of both the football and the atmosphere
I hope we get a big sweeping brush and have a good clear out, Bates obviously will be gone thank fcuk, Harvey, Lorimer and any other person within the club who has acted an act of treason by sucking up to Capt. Birdseye with no interest for Leeds United.
Talking of which I see it looks like we are stuck with Connolly longer than we would like after he decided to have a hernia operation
