good point NZ....i guess playing Beckham would be a popular choice, but perhaps not the right one, especially for Pearce...sad though...
As I thought - there are those who seem to feel that winning an Olympic Gold for the "UK" in football actually matters. And there are those, like myself, who feel that selecting (& playing) Beckham would have spiced up a tournament, which by all accounts, has generated a lukewarm (at best) response from the public. As for BB's commenting about, essentially, not being able to give away Olympic "Soccer" tickets for free - it may have something to do with the fact that no Scots players are involved. Perhaps when Scotland has its hard-won independence it can then bid for the Olympics in its own right.........
But nobody knew that until yesterday - the tickets were farmed out over a month ago. And from what I now hear, it's not just Scotland exuding apathy - the host country appear to have the same problem. Maybe Seb & Co suffer from the same problem as Cameron and Clegg - totally out of touch with reality.
Considering the furore from the Scottish & Welsh Associations about the loss of individual representation within UEFA it was a foregone conclusion that no Scot would be included - I'm surprised that there are Welshmen picked - there's more a dnager of Wales losing its identity within UEFA than Scotland methinks. But I do agree with you BB on the apathetic front in England - I would be apathetic about the Olympics as a whole, not just the "Soccer" - but I can't be bothered. Roll on the new season!
Amen Vic, roll on the new season...though i am going to the first semi final at Wembley...would be nice if team GB were playing, though it won't be the same without Beckham!
