Cardiff City Stadium to stage the European Super Cup Final in 2014. I wonder if the capacity will have been increased by then?
H. I was about to say, perhaps we'll be in it! BfB. From the little I understand, I think the stadium can increase it's capacity by 8000 fairly easily, and that this was also part of the investment plan. On that basis, I would suggest that this bit of news bodes well for the rest of the investment plan.
Read the other day that at the fans meeting it was announced the stadium extension would only be completed once we were in the premier league. You never know this may prompt the club to increase the capacity irrespective of what league we're in. H, now you'e planted the seed they will come.
Fair play to the club, this is another masterstroke and highlights the status of the capital city on the european stage.
careful clingo, that could be misinterpreted in certain quarters as you being serious you might have a point there taff. I should have made my 'moron' filter a little stronger
H. How very dare you sir! I was being perfectly serious. When am I anything else? Back on track though, it's great to see that we are moving to make CCS a stadium that will be associated purely with football.
good news and recognition not only of the stadium we have, but also the location. It would have been easy to have used the Millenium Stadium based on size or used a bigger ground of a premiership club.
Looks as if the whole of Wales stands to benefit from this: First Minister of Wales Carwyn Jones said: "This is fantastic news and confirms once again how our capital city is in the 'Champions League' itself when it comes to hosting world class sporting events. "The European Super Cup will be a major boost to not only to the city, but also for the global profile of Wales."
What with this and the proposal to show all Cardiff games live in the far east, we're doing our bit for advertising sport in Wales and the country in general.
agreed, plus its the second piece of big news I haven't seen "our leaders" taking credit for 'breaking'... things are def looking up
I wonder how long some of these things have been bubbling away in the background. Our owners and management must be working hard behind the scenes. Hopefully there are more things in the pipeline that aren't on people's radar. Just need a signing or two now. Never a dull moment.
fantastic news for the club and the city to attract such a prestigious fixture to the CCS. well done to those who helped secure the deal.......
