That goddam awful new kit.....

Discussion in 'Southampton' started by St. Luigi Scrosoppi, Jun 29, 2012.

?

What do you think of the new strip

  1. I like it and will buy it.

  2. It will take quite a while for me to get to like it.

  3. Sorry Nicola you got it wrong. I wouldn't be seen dead in it.

This strip has been produced for commercial reasons alone. It is so different from out existing kit that Nicola is hoping sales volumes will be much higher than usual when a new kit is released.

I am now skint. The season ticket and the LHT tickets have cleaned me out.

So no new kit for me.

    Why do you say that?

I have made a statement of fact.

    Am I wrong?

Not at all, I completely agree that the club is trying to maximise its income by producing something different to previous seasons. But I don't get why that is a bad thing?

My initial reaction was 'oh dear'. But then I thought, you can't criticise Nicola, he's listening to the fans. Every game they sing 'Come on you reds' when up until now we've played in red AND white. Still undecided as to whether to buy it, the cost of a season ticket has left me a bit low on the old funds. Still don't think it looks right though...

It's not a Saints kit, or a very good kit at that. The stripes half way up the socks is like having a joint in the shin.

Though as we know Red is dead popular in the Far East!

What a bloody moaner, ya not alone but it's a kit. It's smart and looking at a couple of other pictures I'm web more impressed. We could have just done something the same as last season but we haven't, new year, new league, new ambitions!

We have been taunted with "are you Sunderland in disguise" in the past, now we will look like Liverpool. There really isn't much in the new home kit which states WE ARE SOUTHAMPTON apart from the club badge. In my opinion its not anything like as good as last season's shirt, and why red shorts?

I cant believe more people like this kit than dislike it. I blame the overly negative dislike kit statement. I wonder if Liverpool fans would like it if they changed from all red to red and white stripes! Football clubs shouldnt mess with tradition.

There are still stripes, it is not a big deal. You make it sound like we have never changed the design of a kit before, how boring would it be to have the exact same design season after season.

Did I say it was a bad thing? My comment was purely objective and I understand what Nicola is trying to do.

Supporting the Saints this year is going to be very expensive and many fans like me with a fixed amount of disposible income will have to be very selective in how they spend it.

You'd think we'd been stripes without change for all 125+ years with the way some are bleating on about how we've disrespected ****ing "tradition".
