How does a team with no manager buy a player? Just smacks of desperate mismanagement at the top to me. There's £8m less for the next manager to spend.
He'd be more of a VDV replacement from what I've seen. I never understand this misconception that any attacking midfielder would be a replacement for Modric when Modric actually plays deep with even Scott Parker ahead of him at times. Seeing as we still don't even have back up for VDV at the moment I don't see this move as anything more than trying to get in another option for midfield, even if Modric is still likely to leave.
Seeing the last 2 main buys by Levy was VDV & Modric I trust he knows if a player will fit in the team, manager or not
Maybe Harry convinced Levy that tactics weren't actually needed. All you need to do is tell the players to "go out there and express yourself". Maybe Levy then thought "why the hell do i need a manager then?" and is planning on handling all team affairs himself
To be fair, Arshavin was badly used by Arsenal. He is never a winger, and was wasted there. As a VDV type striker he could be effective but only if someone puts a rocket up his arse to move a little.
Not so sure. Used randomly in the Arsenal team I'm not suprised he didn't perform after his first season. Wenger likes to make players play in a position instead of the position they are suited for. Walcott is a good example too. He's a forward, not a winger. He showed how plying in the mid off the strikers vs Sweden how well he can play.
If anything, it's our policy of selling players when we don;t have a manager - namely Kranjcar and Corluka - that is more flawed. After all, what if NEW MANAGER wanted one of them as a part of his set-up? Unless, of course, we've been in contact with NEW MANAGER for some time and he agreed to selling them.
What back room is that Luke, back room of his house or hotel near London certainly not WHL. I doubt if anybody really knows except Levy and he won't say. However it is very likely that he is in contact with his new manager and they are talking player strategies.
SSN have just confirmed that Sigurdsson will be a tottenham player next week. Personal terms sorted and medical passed.
Turns out the 29 pages of posts on him over on the Loserpool board were a waste of time if that's the case...
I can imagine they are pretty gutted to be fair. he's the exact sort of player they need. If gerrard get's injured, which is likely now he's getting older.... who is going to create anything from their midfield? Adam? spearing? lucas? downing? henderson? wow :S.
i pointed that out to them on about page 16 but i was reminded of how Spurs are **** and Gilfy is a 'lemon'..who roughly about up till page 8 was a 'world class talent with great potential and therefore a bargain'
If we land Gaston Ramirez I don't give a damn what happens with GS to be honest. Seems he's taking the big contract at Spurs... which is understandable, and if Spurs can afford it then they can offer it.
im not sure how bigger our contract would be to Liverpool's..we always get left behind on Wage negotiations etc..as we have a wage cap.
this is what I can't work out either, Dona. Apparently he's on 70k pw. that's pretty high for us, especially for someone like Sig. I mean he's good, but he's not a world class player like Rafa. (who is apparently on 44k right?) there's been reports of a takeover, which could well be bullshit... but it does make me wonder. that is a lot for someone like sig. (with all due respect to him). Djimi, what's the score with liverpool at the moment? has the spending been put on hold? Like dona says, for us to beat you to a signing over wages, seems odd to us.
