They got trounced, I think Germany have one strategy that works mostly, but in this game (vs.Italy) it was thrown out of the window, the whole team became split up, and were open to attack.
Wrong subs, and a whole lot of other mistakes.

 

I really didn't deserve to win this anyway; I don't know the first thing about European Football
