Beckham would've been good to have in the squad as an impact sub for the last 25-30 minutes of a game and his presence would've ensured the crowd would be geed up as well. Pearce is the typically stubborn 'I'll do it my way' fool who couldn't handle Becks being the star of the show. The British Olympic Committee still have the final say on the squad and the outcry this is causing could backfire on Pearce spectacularly...
Beckham is better than most people have been giving him credit for. He can still put the ball on a dime, he's not short of fitness (he played 270 minutes in 6 days last week). Put him with a workhorse in the center of the park and he'll work his magic. He still has the work ethic and desire to win that made him a great player to begin with, all he's lost is pace and that was never his game to begin with.
This is probably the truth!! Pearce has England through and through... but I do think he's losing it! It would have been a great gesture to include him. He's done a lot for football, the Olympic committee and representing GB. Come on.. it's only under-23 football with a few oldies added in. I'm sure Beckham would have added to the whole 'event'. Bad show Pearcie!! Bad show!!!
