Agreed Dona. We have a strong chance of winning it if we take it seriously! Only problem, is that it means we play even more prem games on a Sunday!!
some stories you just have to laugh at. Like hell we'd pay £32m for someone! http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football...a-Boas-planning-32million-splash-on-Moutinho/
I keep saying it but I definitely think we'll spend a lot this summer. I don't think Moutinho's worth that much though, or that we'd pay that much for a replacement when most reports suggest Real Madrid are looking to pay around that figure for Modric.
I agree, I think we'll spend big too. But not 32m on 1 player, especially on moutinho. Unproven in this league and not worth that.
They were going with it at one stage because 'Arry and Seedorf were both BBC pundits, now it appears they're continuing it because they're stupid.
IMO, someone like Seedorf coming in will do us no harm whatsoever. our midfield is pretty strong, so it's not like he's going to play regularly, especially at 36. But he'd be a great benefit in training and the youngsters would learn a lot. The guy has won just about everything. Hopefully he'll be able to install a winning mentality.
Given a couple are leaving for nothing this summer, they probably need to sign another. Either that, or they're going to pretend they wanted Macheda to lead the line for years to come and the media pretend he's a great player...sort of like they do with Wellbeck.
Sounds like a really expensive coach. I think he'd be a poor signing and I can't see Levy going for him after renewing the impetus on young talent and in particular, English talent.
Maybe not as a player but i think we should get some coaches in that have had success at club level..i like the idea Roo suggested of actually getting in winners..people who have been through the emotions and prep of a winning team/squad...i suggested the same things around the time Harry left and Sherwood and Les F were being discussed...saying we should get in the likes of Bergkamp(this was just an example) As for being expensive im sure the others were not on peanuts and i cant see it being too far beyond what the current/recently departed coaches were on. but instead its always been about getting in old boys...like you can only have people who have played for the club before...silly limitations.
Expensive? What are the rumoured costs YV? Gotta remember, we just sacked off half our coaches and need someone!! Perhaps we are going to spend big like you say, and that'll include some higher wages for some good assistants?
Well we'd be signing him as a player and presumably we'd be competing with MLS teams as well as Chinese, Qatarian(?) and other European clubs I can't see us getting him for less than £50k wages. That much for a player who's not good enough to play for us and we don't need, just because we hope he'd help players around him in training makes him an expensive coach.
So, celebrate the Calends of July as Caesar might have said if he didn't get shafted on the Ides of March. Will the Romans be celebrating an Italian Euro victory? Moreover, will we be celebrating at White Hart Lane? By Monday will we have a new manager? Will we have signed Sigurdsson? Will we have signed Vertonghen? Will we have signed Adebayor? Will Modric have left? Does anyone actually still want Modric? Will BMJ bump start the Bentley? Will this be the weekend when all or at least some of these questions are answered or will we all still be in the dark? Will DL have one big press conference before training starts and then bugger off on holiday? Will there be any surprise signings? As always with Spurs and just like the song, there are more questions than answers and the more we find out the less we know!
WRT Bentley we'd have to put up a prize that someone wanted to win, a decent bottle of Cognac or something otherwise no one would buy a ticket. Jenas just needs to prove his fitness and he should be easy to sell, he's better than all of the Spammers, half of the goons, most of Fulham. We might even get some money for him.
£7m + Bentley + Jenas = Dempsey If that deal came off, not only would we have got rid of the deadwood we've needed to shift, we'd get a player who can get the goals from midfield we've missed in recent seasons...and probably have a good reason to stop remembering BMJ fondly if he thought that dreck could help fill the void from selling their key player.
Dempsey's only got a year left on his contract and the suggestion was that there were some £5m offers going in for him. With that in mind, £7m + Bentley and Jenas sounds about right!
I have visions of NEW MANAGER on the WHL turf flanked by NEW STRIKER, NEW MIDFIELDER, NEW DEFENDER, NEW GOALKEEPER, Levy already in his bermuda shorts and NEW OWNER (reports). What a day that would be! Although i'd rather we didn't become a new Citeh tbh.
