Theres a few in my street, I couldn't give a **** what they wear. Do I think it's right to wear them? No. Do I think that it should be banned? No. My other post was a dig at Rebels hypocrisy.
Except when your taking away an oppressive right for men and giving freedom to women. Then its fair considering men have been free to oppress the women for 100s of years.
The woman are free not to wear it if they want (in theory) By banning it, you are taking away a freedom to wear it. In general, banning stuff is eroding freedom.
In theory.... in practice they are forced to wear it in the vast majority of cases. Does anyone seriously believe they choose to wear it, especially on the nicest of days. British women have not always been dressed in almost nothing so its certainly not because the women dont want to look like skanks.
Agree with this, banning items of clothing is farcical. Say a woman covered half of her forehead and her top lip downwards, do the police get out a tape measure and check the area of exposure? What we strive for is that our immigrant communtity seek to integrate with us and stop wearing this uniform of seperatism. Or **** off.
what about muslim bee-keepers , what will they be allowed to wear when going about their bee-keeping business ?
توى النحل المعادية للإسلام!
It is a denial of freedom for a minority - and as someone pointed out, it is a symbol of freedom for many, the freedom to be free of sexual gaze and potential harassment. Also, whilst some may be forced to wear garments that may well symbolise man's dominance/oppression, this is not the case for everyone. Above all, it denies people choice, it is counter to liberation and that is oppression. They should be educated so that they can make an informed choice and not have denial of choice dictated to them by French white men. Yes, wear a uniform of Westernism and lets all be the same - **** this celebrating our diversity eh?
You do realise that most Muslim women's groups welcome this ruling don't you? I think their opinion is more valid on this subject than some wishy-washy, liberal-minded sense of righteousness. As for being westernised. All they're being asked to do is remove a piece of material from the front of their faces. It's hardly westernising is it? There are plenty of Muslim countries in the middle-east and Africa where women are not forced to wear a veil over their faces.
Oh, and by the way, if allowing a woman to walk down the street without having to cover up her face due to some 15th century, masculine idea of how women should be treated is your idea of 'westernising' then good!
Yes , but this gets us no further with regard to suitable attire for hard working muslim bee-keepers , which will allow them to tend their swarm without breaking the law.....if bee-keeping in france obviously.
