Maybe with attitudes like that it is unsurprising that we don't win more medals. That's like saying who cares that there are better options than Jordan Henderson or James Milner. This is Euro 2012, it doesn't matter that we win that much
Me too, he's had his day, let Richards have a go after missing the Euros and why should the Olympics team turn into a media circus for Beckham, suits him and nobody else. Well done Pearce!
It isn't like saying that at all. The Euro's and the World Cup are major football tournaments. The football at the Olympics is a side-show.
Seb Coe has just announced that as he's not in the team, he's going to create a role for him and bring him in anyway.
And the Olympics are the largest sporting event in the world, with the football being one event of many. Should we pick over the hill athletes in all events if they are popular and would sell tickets? I am sure that Pearce and the squad want to win a medal, so you pick the best players possible irrespective of how popular an omitted player is
Ok they`ve included the waspish Bellamy... who runs around like a headless chicken constantly winding everyone up withing 20 yards, including himself most of the time and Giggs probably the most over rated footballer in history over a guy that can still deliver a ball on a six pence from set pieces, and has the three lions of England etched indelibly into his heart. Madness, will Giggs be picked over Gareth BALE, who i presume is included ???, can Giggs ever deliver a decent cross, been watching the pratt for 20 years and can`t believe how many balls he wastes, definite own goal for me.
Gawge has it spot-on. Try picking our very best potential U23 (plus 3 overage) team/squad for yourself, and then look at the real squad when it's announced. There will be little resemblance between the two, because British football isn't taking it seriously and the clubs have a lot of power in the selection process. All that should matter to us is that perhaps a few key opponents of City may just be slightly weakened at the start of the season. The proper international football will be over for the summer by Sunday night.
Olympics? Schmolympics..... And Team GB? Team gone bollocks. Save your money, save your breath, **** 'em!
Olympic football is'nt really that important, the best players wont be in it as they have just played the euros and I'm pretty sure the likes of Messi wont be selected or even interested. Beckham has been a good ambassador for us over the years and if he wanted to play I'm suprised he was'nt selected, certainly has the heart for it as he is very patriotic and would have added some extra interest for what is lets face it a non event compared to the other stuff going on in different events.
The attitude of the fans has nothing to do with how successful we will be. All that matters is the attitude of the selectors and players, not us.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/...ckham-london-2012?fb=native&CMP=FBCNETTXT9038 Good article just popped up on this, Beckhams had his day and he can still represent us in other ways at the Olympics
John Prescott on Twitter now calling for Beckham to be picked, the selection of Giggs is probably the main reason Beckham isn't there we don't need two pensioners running around and Giggs is still a good player
I'd have picked him. But the manager has made his decision and he didn't want him there so that's fine by me. I think he is a good player but also think in this situation his reputation is what people want picked.
In 50 years of watching football he is the best crosser/ place kicker of a ball I have seen, just his age you need legs to play in his position.
