I'll have a Vodka and Coke on the rocks cheers. I've just seen this quote from Balotelli.... '' When I score, I don't celebrate because it's my job. When a postman delivers letters, does he celebrate? '' Strange chap.
Nines, do us a favour please and turn on the hose on that fire engine of yours outside......the sound of rushing water might send Inky to the e-loo. We could do with a peace for a while! I can't concentrate on my singing' with all his blathering (or should that be bladdering!).
How amazing is this? What was today's date..... please log in to view this image Today was the day when Marty went back to the future, future.
I can't fetch it CORKeR, I've had a couple of glasses of Chateau Paf de Neuf. You''ll have to put a call in to the lads. They'll pop round. ( If they can find this place that is? )
Apparently it's a hoax..."A Photoshopped image of the future date from the film has been making the rounds online, indicating that characters such as Doc and Marty McFly travel via their time-machine car to June 27, 2012 from October 26, 1985.But don’t be fooled. The actual date — as seen in the YouTube video — shows that we haven’t approached “the future” just yet: It’s set for October 21, 2015." So don't get too excited. Where was I back to the Crabbies
I hope that's Crabbies the alcoholic drink Beth and not a nasty infection that needs urgent attention!
Thanks for that beth, I'm such a hoax victim. I think I'll skulk over into the corner with my new book..... 50 Sheds Of Grey. Where was I ? Oh here we go.... '' 'I lay back exhausted, gazing happily out of the shed window. Despite my concerns about my inexperience, my rhubarb had come up a treat . .''
afternoon queenslander. so this is the new bar you've been hanging out at recently eh? mmmmm... funny looking lot aren't they? strangely familiar though. give us a pint of real ale, fed up with these poxy bleeding pots, full of pissy aussie lager. i'm off to new york with my eldest daughter, to spend a fortnight with her before she leaves in october for 2 years in europe. always craved a visit to the big apple since my youth but came this way instead and now i have the chance i was wondering if anyone in here tonight has any one particular sidetrip or experience they would highly recommend in the city that never sleeps? we will do the touristy stuff but maybe something a little quirky or off the beaten track. all suggestions welcome thanks.
I told this story before....we were in NY last week for nearly the same reason....youngest daughter, off to art school this year and it was her last holiday with us. She and I went to Museum of Modern Art, I was (socially) wearing my Barca shirt (QPR shirt in the wash). It is darn expensive to get in but queuing to pay one of the stewards quite forciably moved me out of one into another. Saying that is the one I needed to be in. I get to the front, and the cashier goes near ballistic, treating me as a long lost sister. I got free entry for daughter and I, program and lunch time he met us and got us a snack. All day we wandered thro MOMA, people were shouting Barca Barca at me....I did tell him I was Rs supporter but he chose not to listen, So for a cheap (or as we say it FREE) trip to MOMA wear a Barca shirt
Was over there in December Farflung. Firstly buy a New York City Pass, that gives you free admission to loads of potential sights. To see the best view of the city go to the roof terrace of the Rockefeller Centre, it's smack in the middle of the city and on a clear day the open air view is spectacular. You should also spend a full day exploring all of Central Park, lots to see there especially at this time of year I'd imagine. Also, if you're not a veggie try the Philadelphia Cheese Steak in Planet Hollywood, it's mega...
Go to the microbrewery think it is called "Heartlands" and try their sampler tray. 7 half pints/litres of very different beers all truly fantastic..you can then chose your favourite and get a little bit tipsy
Also, do visit Ground Zero, there's a lot of security and the entrance is quite convoluted but once there you cannot fail to be moved...
I echo Sooper's comment about Central Park - it's just the best place in the whole city. NY is the one place other than the UK where I could very happily live. Touristy things? You'll probably do the Empire state, just to say you've done it - but be prepared cos the security is tight, and it's worth pre-purchasing the ticket to avoid at least one of the queues. When you are up there, you get great views of the city in the distance (all the way to the planes landing at JFK) and probably the best possible view of the Chrysler Building, which is magnificent. anything closer and you just see the plant on the top of the office block, though. Still worth it. St Patricks is worth a trip for the architecture, and whilst you are at Ground Zero, take a walk down to Battery Park to see the Globe and the Memorial Flame before doing the Liberty Island trip. Other things I remember from being there: Times Square is much smaller than you imagine. Yellow Cab rides show you where they got the inspitation for Grand Theft Auto games. The Hat And Cap Shop on 34th and Broadway will sell any movie t-shirt you care to think of, amd thousands more besides, as well as headgear from everwhere and everywhen. Away from the main drag, the business areas tend to have original deli's on the corner, and you'll get the best lunches from there. And Fifth Avenue has more bling than a Basildon vajazzle shop. The other thing that's cool to do is to keep an eye out for movie locations - they are all over the place, and if you're a movie lover like myself, you'll recognise very familiar places all the time.
