Does anyone else hope that Ba signs or goes within the next week or so?

I'm personally fed up with this being a recurring theme within our summer transfer windows. Players making us wait all summer before making a decisions, constant speculation, rumours and **** going around all the time.

I would love Ba to stay, and I think he likes it here mostly.

But if his head isn't 100% in it, then IMO he should just go. It would be best for everyone if he just made his decision now.

I don't want this to drag all summer and him end up leaving 2 weeks before next season starts. I'd like to know soon what's going to happen.

I wish him all the best, but I wish he'd either just sign up or **** off, because this horseshit drives me insane.

If we get rid early we can get the cash and use it to buy someone useful, and prepare earlier on. And by that I don't just mean get the right player in, I mean start adapting to life without Demba and see what significant changes it has on our team's performance in training, friendlies ect.

 

Isn't he still on holiday? Would rather he stayed for this season and then left if he didn't want to stay, we need all the (Good) players we can get to cope with Europe.

A lot of this feeling of there being a degree of indecision around whether he stays or leaves is being driven by the media. A story one day about how he has signed for another club, the next he is happy at Newcastle. For all we know things are progressing well behind the scenes. We don't actually know that the process is taking awhile as a result of any decision Ba may/may not or has/has not made.

I completely agree it would be better for things to be sorted sooner rather than later, no one wants Jose Enrique Part II and I am sure the Club will have that in mind too. But it may go to the end of July, which I believe is when the alleged clause expires.

I'd rather **** get sorted. If I was fat Mike I'd basically say... Commit or, in 14 days (after your Hols) we will plan without you and put you on the transfer list.

We simply can't carry passengers and the team is always bigger than the individual.

 

Simple ideal solution for me I hope he says he stay ASAP, same as I hope we sign Debuchy ASAP.

 

The rumours around Ba are all media generated. The guy has said he wants to stay several times.
It's not exactly his fault if he's away on a summer break and there's bullsh1t stories being created to wind up the fans.

 

The last we heard from Ba he stated that he "cant wait to step back onto the pitch again at SJP"

Everything after that has been pure media driven fabrication and conjecture.

The transfer window hasn't even opened yet and people are panicking about players leaving and the fact that none have come in.

Everything will sort itself out in time, for the first time in a while I'm very confident that we will have a contingency in place for each player that we may lose, but I still have a feeling we will be pleasantly surprised with out outgoings, got a sneaky feeling Ashley has got his passion for the club back and wants to kick on.

Don't be surprised if we keep all of our key players AND bring in enforcements this summer. Unless the players themselves are wanting to move on of course.

Demba's last Twitter comment on this subject was in reply to the question, "What are these rumours saying that you're not signing a new contract?"
Demba's response: "i don't man. I just enjoy my holiday. And my guys are working on it. We'll wait to see how far the talks goes."

Somehow this doesn't sound very reassuring to me.......

I'm not too worried by that. To me this just sounds like he's chillin' on his holiday and not thinking about 'work'. If I were on holiday and someone started asking me how my pay review and cotract negotiations were going, I'd probably say 'Let's see when I get back' and then sit by the pool with a cocktail.

 

The beauty of this situation is that potential suitors have until July 31st to show their hand. Any later than that and his value rockets 3-fold. I don't think Ba will be rushing in to signing any contract with us just yet, but I also don't expect him to move until the end of July as he'll be hanging on to see all the offers that come his way. That said, I can't see many clubs out there paying £7m for him and offering him wages that are significantly higher than what he's already on. There must surely be the worry from the potential suitors part that despite the first half of the season, he spent the 2nd half without scoring a single goal and missed penalties and guilt edge chances in the process. In my opinion, he still contributed to the team but the fact remains he went 5 months without scoring.

 

Ba has a term in his contract that Mike would like to have removed. Ba and his agent want something in return. So far, so normal.

It doesn't get resolved overnight or while he's lying on a beach. Also normal.

He is not going to say on Twitter: "I will not leave the club no matter what" because that would reduce his bargainig position to zero - - if he's not leaving, there is no point paying him anything to stay.
