Trying to spend that money wisely! If I can stay up first season then the free transfers tend to be quite good.

Amazing stuff. I remember playing some FIFA 97/98 but never heard of those ones.

    Arsenal 1-0 Saints
    Saints 5-0 QPR
    Man City 2-1 Saints
    Saints 1-1 Aston Villa
    Newcastle 1-2 Saints

    Top scorer: Tadanari Lee (5)
    Top performer: Tadanari Lee (7.36)
    League position: 8th

Jack Cork has picked up a 3 month injury, and Guly is out for 4 months, which leaves me pretty short in midfield. Ward-Prowse and Reeves are making it onto the bench quite often. Still, though, the defense has been far more solid than I thought it would be, which I put down to the fact that I've told them to play a lot deeper than usual so that they don't roam forward too much and get exposed. Pretty good season so far, and it's starting to look like Hoadie might not be quite as good a manager as he made himself out to be. Shocker.

    pretty good joe!!!

On my saints save (after buying 4-5 players) about 10 games in, normally 15th ish. just shows you dont need new players, haha

    Whats your formation?

    Home?
    away?
    or both the same?

On this subject, anyone know where I can buy or download CM97/98? Quite possibly the finest management game ever! Used to love it. You could get a season done in 2 or 3 hours. Brilliant.

It's because he hasn't played any matches yet ;) After one match he just sits at 10% for the rest of the season!

I've got CM97/98 as well, I can probably send it over to you tonight, pm me so I don't forget! It is slightly better than Championship Manager 2 but mostly because of the range of leagues! I've got CM 00/01 and 03/04 as well, both great as well. There is something about the simplicity of them, like you said the seasons just fly by!

Mate, I would be forever in your debt if you could send me 97/98! I yearn for the days of Tommy Svindal Larsen and all the other Scandinavian world beaters!

This is the best part. The detail in the new ones is tiresome. Hate all the press conferences before and after the game etc...

I'll zip it up with some instructions this evening and upload somewhere for you, no worries. Can be quite fiddly to get working on XP/Vista/Windows 7 though.

Mainly it's been a 4-4-2, fluid, short passes, high creative freedom. But I've set the defensive line quite deep, and both central midfielders are defensive (BWM and DLP, both set to defend). Rickie has played every game as a deep-lying forward (support), and Lee and Sharp rotate as poacher.

Occasionally if I'm really up against it, like away to a top 4 team, I'll play 4-5-1.
